COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A low alcohol session smoke, great for summertime drinkin’. We start with the highest quality English maris otter base malt then we add caramel malt from the UK and equal parts beechwood and cherry wood smoked malt. A small addition of English nugget hops balance out this ales delicate malty sweet and smokey flavor and aroma.

Beautiful deep amber color with no real head to speak of. Cherry and some smoke in the aroma. More malty than smoky. Good malt backbone and mild bitterness finish has a slight sweetness.

On tap at brewpub
Starting the flight with this was a good way to pass a quiet Sunday evening. With temperatures off the charts I was not in the mood for big bold beers. A 4% smoked was a much better option.

Aroma / Appearance - The lazy caramel base and wispy white head combine easily. With the smell of sweet iced tea driving a malt base that teases at a light smokiness it is soft.

Flavor / Palate - The sample drinks very quickly. Fading as fast as the sip begins the malty iced tea texture drags along a light smokiness. It tastes a bit like the remains of a fire pit after a week has passed.

On tap at the brewpub in Louisville, KY. Pours a clear, amber colored body with a thin, frothy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is a light bready pale malt sweetness with a touch of caramel and some smoke. Some fruity esters and a touch of wood. Flavor is similar. Thin malts throughout with a light bready pale malt and a good amount of smoke with a slight peat. A few lager fruit esters before this finishes clean and mostly dry with some smoke, pale malts, and a touch of cherry-wood sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent smoked lager. Crisp and clean with a lighter malt backing and a balanced smoke. Not bad.

I couldn’t finish this beer. I gave up and ordered a vodka tonic instead, and it too was terrible. It definitely lives up to its name, it’s smokey, but not in a good way.

Draught at brewpub. Smokey. Lager with smoke basically. Camp fire taste overall. Not for me.

Aroma of hammy smoke, caramel and some butterscotch. Appearance is copper with bone head. Flavor matches the nose; a little nutty alongside the aforementioned aromas; the finish is herbal. Palate is bubbly and frothy. Tasty!

Tap at brewery, Light smoky peat and barn aroma. Amber with a small white ring. Tastes like a lightly smoked horse blanket. Medium body and carbonation. I really, really loved this one!

Tap. Light smoked malt aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Mild smoked meat malt flavor. Good balance. Very tasty and easy drinking beer.
