COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English style barleywine aged in Angelís Envy bourbon barrels. Brewed with enough Maris Otter pale, Aromatic and caramel malts to nearly overflow our mash tun. We then balanced this beer with some English Nugget and Kent Goldings hops. The resulting ale was sweet, nutty and powerful, but we didnít stop there. The entire batch was put into used Angelís Envy barrels for nearly 3 months to gather the residual bourbon flavor and some aromatic and drying oak notes. By the way, Balling is a measurement of specific gravity.

Squat little 12oz bottle, courtesy of shrubber85, pours with a nearly opaque brown copper body that supports a thin light tan to white head of foam. The aroma offers up a blend of smooth soft bourbon, softened spicy oak, molasses coated spicy graham cracker and then a mild hit of heat at the end of the draw. The taste delivers smooth malty rich bourbon and spicy oak thatís quickly backed up by more malts, that reach a near nectar like richness, and molasses. It gets a little spicier to midway with a kind of molasses and malt nuanced nutmeg, cinnamon and another thin layer of oak spiciness. It evens out into the finish with a tasty balance of maltiness, molasses like sweetness, spicy notes of oak and bourbon booze. Well crafted barrel aged beer with spot on beer to barrel balance.

17.04.2016, 12 oz bottle @ home:
Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sour-ish, whiskey, oak, grass, caramel malts, minerals, bark, raisins, old rope, overripe dark fruits, grain. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry mineraly, oak, whiskey, minerals, caramel malts, bark, grass, weeds, raisins, grain, overripe dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.

355ml bottle. Murky, dark amber colour with small, thick, creamy, half-wa ylasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Oaky and malty aroma, notes of vanilla and toffee. Taste is dry oaky, minimally tart-ish woody, some toffee, hints of vanilla, almond malty basis; dangerously hidden alcoholic power deploys forceful encephalic effectiveness nevertheless. Iím still at daggers drawn with this style: in this case the bourbon notes have a flattering influence on the unloved malt bulk, whereas not much hoppy counterweight fails to do the job. In the end largely a pretentious but nonsensical demonstration of force without comprehensible, flavourful concomitant features.

Bottle from VP Aker Brygge enjoyed at home
Dark brown, red hue, big thick creamy tanned head. Smell of bourbon, vanilla, prunes, dark malts, dark fruits; quite complex. Heavy sweet, dark fruit, cherries bourbon, vanilla, spices, bread; quite boozy, alot of oak; complex flavors. Medium bitter, fruit peel and bourbon tail. Superb stuff

Quite hazy and dark orange/brown. The head is medium and has a grey color. The aroma is sweet candy, deep toffee, a bit smoke, chocolate, dried red fruits, dried banana, bourbon vanilla. Very nice aroma overall. Flavour is sweet but it's not cloying. Very drinkable for a beer that big. Carbonation is delicate and the body is oily but not too thick again for a beer that big. It feels that it was aged on used barrels. Nice one.

Tasting at Mattís
Cloudy dark amber to brown color, compact head. Nice blend of bourbon and malt aroma; light tobacco. Full bodied, rich but lean malt flavor, moderately sweet, strong bourbon flavor, and the alcohol punch is pleasant.
Very good.

had a couple of times, last time was the morning we left the avenue after zwanze í15 .. . dark brown .. mild head ring, solid lacing .. . caramel, toffee, burnt toffee, and blackened mop water .. . mouth is plucky, legit finish .. a bit of a novelty, but a good drink .. . . Imagine that, a poncho sombrero combo, Iíll be off my tits on happiness.
