English style barleywine aged in Angel’s Envy bourbon barrels. Brewed with enough Maris Otter pale, Aromatic and caramel malts to nearly overflow our mash tun. We then balanced this beer with some English Nugget and Kent Goldings hops. The resulting ale was sweet, nutty and powerful, but we didn’t stop there. The entire batch was put into used Angel’s Envy barrels for nearly 3 months to gather the residual bourbon flavor and some aromatic and drying oak notes. By the way, Balling is a measurement of specific gravity.

Bottle. Unclear amber, off-white head. Dark fruity and malty sweetness in aroma with vanilla on the side. Dark fruityness, raisins, some toffee and vanilla in taste. Good, but has got a slightly boozy finish.

Pours hazy brown with tan head, not much head. Nose is bourbon, malt, caramel, oak. Tastes rich, with notes of oak, malt, bourbon, hops. Very complex.

Bottle. The pour is a perfect amber color with vibrancy. The aroma is a nice blend of bourbon and a barleywine. The taste tingles the tongue in a good way. The bourbon has a strong presence and warms the whole way down. Big and boozy, and I like that. A top notch beer for sure. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber colour with quite nice beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty with dark malts, herbal and with barrel bomb. Strong wood and bourbon notes. There are also sweet fruits. Sweet taste also, fruity and strong barrel with bourbon finish.

Cool stubby bottle shared with Parksy. Deep garnet-amber, fruity caramel aroma. Flavours of dark caramel, kirsch, light leather, raw almonds, bitter finish. Very tasty.

12oz bottle - nose is akin to cherry flavored cough syrup. Sip is BA for sure and boozy. Reminds me of Unibroue’s Quelque Chose. A sipper for many reasons, both bad and good. For the ABV, easy to drink and mildly detectable.

12 oz. stubby bottle from The Party Source. Pours a clear dark reddish amber color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma and flavor have big caramel malts, bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark fruits, a slight nutty character, slick, moderately viscous mouth feel, just a touch of bitterness to the finish, unquestionably an English style BW, I think the barrel works pretty well here.
