COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Truly a ground breaking beer, this Barrel aged Rauchbier was an attempt to replicate the flavors present in Islay Scotch Whiskey. We used Munich malt as a base and added copious amounts of Beechwood and Peat smoked malt, which provides the intense smoky and earthy peat flavors found in Scotch. Then the addition of Alderwood smoked salt lends a crisp brininess that is reminiscent of the sea air in the Islay region of Scotland. Aged in used Angel’s Envy Bourbon Barrels to give an intense caramel, vanilla and whiskey flavor.

A very good peaty smoked beer. Their is something else in the flavour except for the regular peat which make it complex and interesting. A good beer!

Verdaderamente extraña pero elegante y muy placentera. Tiene la complexión de un whisky de Malta con mucha frescura y un paladar 'lateral' que mima los bordes de la lengua mas que el centro.

A mid reddish orange beer with a frothy white head. A strong smoky aroma, like a good single malt, woody, peaty, then a fruity appley aroma. Dry mouthfeel. The taste mirrors the aroma, smoky, peaty, woody, and the slightly sour fruity flavour. The finish is mildly sour and smoky. Tasted at BierCaB, Barcelona. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at the Biercab, Barcelona, Catalonia. Clear deep golden colour with a small off-white head. Smoke, whiskey sweetness, sidra, mild sweetness and some fruitiness in the aroma. Quite interesting. The flavour is sweet vanilla, smoke, tar, mild bitterness and some malt. Quite a mess actually.

Great ideas merging a rauch bier with a barrel aged angle. It works well, smoky and rich at the same time. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from City Beer. Pours orange amber with a tiny beige head and a smoky aroma. There is a very smoky and earthy pale malt flavor with some oak and bourbon. A little too smoky for me, but oterwise well-constructed.

August 28, 2014 - bottle from Brett. Dark orange pour with limited head. Aroma was an interesting mix of fruit, light campfire smoke and cheap bourbon. Taste was consistent witb the aroma and had a cigarette ash finish.

Pours cloudy light amber with a medium off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is woody, smoky and bourbon. Flavors are woody, ash, whiskey, salty and vanilla
Wow, this is a great smoked beer. Well balanced, just the right amount of barrel aging.
