COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In times of peace, we drink this beer from the side. In times of war, we move this beer to the front to protect the future of Scotland. The sporran is both a wallet and a form of genital armor. Similarly, this Scottish ale is both a fruit beer and a creamy, malty ale. The caramel, toffee, and toasty flavors begin in the malt bill and are bolstered by a small lactose addition like the one we used in Mockless Lobster. Plenty of blackcurrants then went into the fermenter to round out the dark fruit flavors and add an unusual sweetness. The result is suitable both for times of peace and times of war.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Good complex toasted sweet earthy malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good well balanced dark sweet flavor with a dark sweet moderate to long finish. Very good complex brew.

The last stop before the big finish was this fine Scottish ale. Very drinkable and filling it was worth not glossing over (but thatís true of all but a handful of their beers). I canít wait to try their GTMW releases in August.

Aroma / Appearance - Hints of carbonation pop up from time to time. The caramel black base looks like someone melted the crust of a creme brulee. Red twizzlers, black currants, and creamy milk bring to mind a strange mixture of high tea and a candy shop.

Flavor / Palate - Black licorice chews are a good start. The only flaw is a medicinal drag that sticks on the tongue. The thick body coats the palate after just two sips. The tang in the finish brings out new complexity. This might not be the best Scottish ale in the Midwest but it is not too bad either.

Draught at Lexington Beerworks. Very rich caramel and toffee taste throughout. Sweet in body. Amber color. I get a little bit of the lactose. Nice.

Tan disappearing head. Opaque dark reddish brown. Sweet malty nose. Grainy start to a long sweet malty finish. All in all a very nice 60 shilling ale.

Growler. Earthy, smoky peat, nutty slightly sweet malt aroma. Clear deep chestnut with a small off-white head. Earthy nutty malt, blackcurrant, creamy and light peaty flavor. Creamy body on the lighter side of full, soft carbonation. Very sessionable malty beer.

Aroma is dominated by malt complexities- fudge, nutella, lactose with some light fruity esters. Appearance is dark red/brown with bone head. Flavor matches the nose; a very rich, malty beer. Palate is full, sticky and very soft. Quite liked this.
