COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an AtG resurrection of an old Polish style called a Grätzer, which was originally made with 100% oak-smoked wheat. We reinterpreted the recipe a little to boost the diastatic power slightly (it’s an enzymes thing) while still retaining about 66% German oak-smoked wheat. The light body and mellow wheat flavor really allow the full smokiness to shine through. Maxed out.

Pale orange, white head. Sweet nose almost an apple. Tastes a bit Smokey with a sweet finish.

Draft to taster. Looks decent; a completely transparent light gold with thin white lacing. Smells of smoke first and wheat second. Tastes like it smells, only smokier, with an average (at best) mouthfeel. Okay, but just not enough body or malt for a beer this smokey.

Draft. Clear yellow gold body. Frothy white head, lasting. Aroma of campfire smoke, charred oak, toasted grain, pine. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. The finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Taste of smoky oak. Light tartness and lingering bitterness.

on draft poured a yellow color with white head that lasted most of the glass. mild to medium body on this one. strangest beer of the night though. for me only the aroma and taste was like drinking from a dirty smoky ashtray. i understand the premise of this beer with the smokiness and the wheat but it just didnt do it for me.

Tap sample. Poured clear pale color with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with excellent good lacing. Moderate smoke and bready aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium smoked sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex soft beer.

After all the heavy monsters that Against the Grain has unleashed on the world it is awesome to see them trying lighter styes. No wonder they are already world renown. This one won’t last long but whatever is on tap at the time you can’t go wrong with a visit.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden body is covered by a frosty white head. Light smoked wheat and the smell of damp clothes after a walk in the rain give it a musky feel. For 3.6% ABV it is substantial.

Flavor / Palate - Smoky hops, ripe lemons, and a dash of grapefruit are the main components of a flavorful session experience. Solid, robust, and well balanced, this beer may now be one of my favorite lower ABV releases.

Clear, light gold with white head. Wood smoke, wheat scent. Smoky ham, wheat malt, lemon. Very light, but quite nice.....comfy smokiness.... Good stuff.

Growler. Smoked ham aroma - right up there with Schlenkerla. Slightly haze gold with a moderate white head. Honey smoked ham, wheat malt, and very light grassy flavor. LIght body, moderate carbonation. Very nice smoked beer.

Aroma of oak smoke, ointment, lemon, honey and sea salt. Appearance is gold with white head. Flavor really comes with the smoke; the other Gratzer characteristics seem to mellow out. Palate is light, lively and very soft. Didn’t do it for me.

Clear yellow with white head. Aroma to mild to judge. Taste is mild with a little smoke. Not bad, just not for me.
