Pours a hazy dull orange/amber with a small light tan has. The smell is citrus, grapefruit, mango. The taste is grapefruit, citrus, a bit of pine on the aftertaste which is very dry. Light+ body with active finely structured carbonation.

22 oz. bottle crush with the dude. Pours a very light orange with a small white head. Aroma of Nelson Sauvin hops, tropical fruit, mango, pineapple. Flavor is sweet and fruity with mild bitterness. Medium bodied, somewhat slick, lively carbonation. Finishes with lots of tropical fruit notes. Interesting, but the execution isn’t quite there.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber with possibly the strangest label I have ever seen. For the record it’s awesome. Crushed with Honkeybra. Aromas of grass, nail polish, skunk, and puke. Not too pleasant. Flavor is grassy and nail polish big time. Not a fan.

Now I am absolutely convinced that I have been spoiled by IPAs on the west coast. This double IPA was brewed with my favorite hop, Nelson sauvin, and I'm just not getting the characteristics from it I'm looking for. Where's the tropical fruit? Where's the resinous, almost creamy palate? Why is it bready in the nose and too boozy in flavor? I want answers, Against the Grain. For all you hop heads out there, get yourself to the outskirts of San Diego and the Alpine Brew Co. Their Nelson IPA is on par with Pliney the Elder...I shit you not.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Awesome bottle to glass. Hazy burnt orange pour with a thin white head. Nose is sweet malt with juicy tropical fruity hop. A bit of an earthy sour, like a wine that they describe. Taste is a nice fruity hop body that has notes of mango, tangerine, grape. Nelson hops are wild. Mild bitter finish. Great double ipa.

poiur is hazy golden yellow with white head. aroma is pungent nelson sauvin hops, pine, grapefruit, grass. Taste also is dominated by bitter nelson hops, nice fruity and buttery sweetness initially but bruisingly bitter in the finish. good stuff, but didn’t want much more than a glass.

Draft at rw. Not a west coast IPA. The hops are their own character. Smells better than it tastes

On tap in Louisville (KY)
A solid IPA was very much worth the pint at a local bar. Full of flavor without being overwhelming it manages to find that perfect balance between tempting you to drink another and being so filling that one is enough. As with almost every other Against the Grain release this is not one to miss if it comes your way.
Aroma / Appearance - A creamy body the color of melted bronze shines in the glass. Starchy white head tries to contain a fresh feel of mangoes, grapefruit, and citrus. Bright and hoppy this perks up the senses even if you do not have a refined nose for bitterness.
Flavor / Palate - Mango, grapefruit, and fresh lemon crisp are brilliant on the tongue. Lingering just long enough to last until the next sip they give this a pleasant creamy mouthfeel. Well worth purchasing either at the brewpub or from a growler fill station this is another success from downtown Louisville.
