An India Pale Ale featuring Nelson Sauvin hops. Named after the Sauvignon Blanc grape, is a variety of hop developed and grown in New Zealand. It has a strong fruity flavor and aroma that is described as resembling white wine, or fresh crushed grapes or gooseberries. Some reviewers of this hop perceive the fruitiness as being very tropical with descriptions including passion fruit, tangerines, and grapefruit.

Tap sample. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy citrus fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium duration. This a solid brew.

22 oz bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have some floral character, white wine, toasted pale malts, bready, some spicy hops, some tropical fruit character, passion fruit, decent beer.

22oz bottle, purchased a week or two ago from Party Town. Labeled 8.2% or so, I believe. Shared with local raters. Totally hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves decent fine dots of lace. Pretty nice, complex hoppy (and kind of yeasty) nose. Tropical indeed, in the smell there’s tangerine, passion fruit, grape. Nice kind of spicier hop in the flavor, plus all the tropical. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, kind of a dry finish. Light to moderate sweet. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation, and dry finish. Pretty nice nelson sauvin feature. Something seems a little stale and malty about it though, slightly metallic. No idea how old this bottle is seeing as how ATG does not bottle-date, but I know I’m always taking a risk buying bombers at Party Town (especially when they’re at ATG price-levels). When revisiting later, there’s a bit more stale malty mildly metallic flavor, maybe a touch of brett? Kind of a soft texture, as well. Score lowered by .2 in aroma and palate ...
