Draft @ Moeder Lambic, Fontainas. Continuing the crusade for better Castilian beers, the beer sort of reminded me of a light Black IPA.

Appearance: dark mahogany brown, decently opaque, with a creamy light tan head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, nuts, dark bread, with a hint of citrus. Taste: roasty, with a hint of chocolate and coffee, definite notes of chestnuts, maybe some nougat, with a litte more bitterness as it warms. Finish: slightly hoppy, slightly bitter, and clean. Notes: Perfectly acceptable, even good, brown ale. Palate was creamy and smooth, flavors were extremely balanced. Solid, but not world-changing. Bottle from the Rare Beer Club.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2012 Draft. Malty and roasty aromas, some caramel. Pours dark brown, quite clear, with nice tan head, quite persistent. Light body and low cabonation. Tastes malty, some roast flavors and toffe. Maybe some fruit. Finish is short and sweet. Found it a bit watered down.

Pours unclear mahogany dark brown with a decent off white head. The flavor starts out with sweet and nutty maltiness, almost like iced tea, and then ends with some bitterness. The body is medium.

750 ml bottle poured a hazy reddish bropwn with a lasdting tan head. Aromas of earthiness, toasted malt and cocoa. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of cocoa, toasted malt and earthiness with a crisp dry lingering earthy finish.

Didn’t really impress me. Muddy brown. Starts off semi-sweet with muddied flavors. Finishes slightly bitter--more from roast/burnt malt flavors than hops.

26/05/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Classica brown ale, schiuma leggera appena persistente color bianco sporca. Forse in cattive condizioni, mi piacerebbe riprovarla.
