Tasted on 8/14/12 from a capped 750mL bottle from the Rare Beer Club. Pours dark, cola brown with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to very thick and rocky lace. The nose is nutty caramel and milk chocolate malt, with maybe just a touch of light coffee, and I don’t know how to describe it, but I can smell the carbonation. The flavor is the same nutty milk chocolate with some bitterness, and the same over-carbonation. The body is light with fizzy over-carbonation and a long bitter chocolate malt finish.

Draught @ Ale&Hop, Barcelona. Hazy dark brown beer with bubbly head. Aroma has surypy malts with fresh hops. Flavour combines these two in a good way. Good maltiness and balance.

750 bottle-dissipating tan-brown. A-roasty/cocoa-med malt. T-funky, roasty med malt, some earthy hop bite. Aggressive carbonation, from infection.

Brown pour with a khaki head. Smells off. Tea, pepper, and roasted malt. Cocoa powder, a bit of raisin, toast, and maybe some caramel. The flavor is pepper, tea, roast, toast, and bitter chocolate. Some raisin and toasted malt. Kind of dry and acidic on the finish.

750mL bottle during RBWG. Sorry, 3fourths, our bottle was infected. Overcarbed and funky. Not good. You can have it all.

Bottle. Hazy brown color, medium tan head. Aroma of plums, raisins, subtle citrus. Taste is malty with dark fruit. Tasty.

750ml bottle at RBWG. It’s funky! Way too funky for a brown ale, almost like a Biere de Garde. Interesting.

Bottled. Dark brown colour with a frothy and medium creamy beige head with a decent duration. Aroma is toasty, light sweet and caramel. Flavor has toffee notes with caramel and toasted. Moderate final with a slight bitterness.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread/grain, caramel, nuts, mild coffee), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), with notes of honey, plum, cola, cinnamon. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Another fabulous beer from this master of low gravity ales. Succulent malt matched perfectly with lovely floral hops. Super clean and balanced. How can anyone not love this stuff?

Rich burgundy. Eggshell head establishes a persistent collar as it slowly fragments. Complex malty aromatics of marzipan, chicory, cocoa, browned biscuit, black licorice, tealaves, leather and whispers of spicy hops. Subtle hint of plastic, as well. Soft and snug carbonation. Initial splash of ripe plum gives way to an elegant medley of mouth-enveloping malt which elegantly boasts a lush browned biscuit, supple bread, and cookielike crackle. Grains steadily take on more velvety richness akin to marzipan, tobacco, and cocoa-dusted truffles as they sluggishly unfold. Plenty of sharply defined edges, though, which perfectly counterbalance the more decadent chocolate aspects. Gains even more depth as the assertive dextrins grip the tongue before segueing to a silkier Crystal-derived toffee-drizzled-nut caress. Late flourish of gently ashy roast dries things out a bit. Vibrant plum is ripe to the point of yielding no acidity as its explosive succulence seamlessly merges with the residual sugars and mildly spicy, tealike British hops. Suggestive sassafras and licorice root add intrigue beneath the unwavering maltiness at the finish. Another delightful number from a fun little brewery. What makes these guys unique and thus pleases me is that they aren’t trying to do anything sensationalistic. Rather, they seem mostly content with perfecting these fundamental styles, and I’ll tip my hat to that.
