UPDATED: JUL 10, 2005 Brown, almost black, with a nice creamy brownish head. Aroma from tar, juniperberry, currant and chocolate. Flavor from tar, some licorice, quite mild and malty with viol and some fruity notes. Incredible palate and the alcohol is very well hidden.

Bottled. Dark brownish. Cappucino-head coloured foam leaves a diminishing blanket-like lacing inside the glass. Nice. Aroma is complex: Chocolate, cheese, wood and maybe melon. The flavour is not less complex, there is an overall profile of ’cheesy sourness’ that is balanced nicely by the alcohol. It’s malty but not overwhelming like a doppelbock or an Imperial Stout. Notes of chocolate, raisins, grassy hops(salty-ish?), cheese was sensed in flavour. Very alcoholic would not describe this one, the abv just gives good balance.

Bottled. Dark brown/copperish colour, almost opaque, beige bubbly, longlasting head. Huge aroma, cinnamon, coffee, alcocol with coffeeish and flowery hints. Lovely flavour of plums, raisins and fruits. Hints of alcohol, but not at all disturbing. Absolutely wonderfull brew! Thanks omhper!

I found this delicious. The others mention soy, but I just get some salt, not a full-fledged soyness. This had great creamy caramel, and it was wonderfully undercharged in terms of alcohol. At the end of the bottle there was a tiny bit of unfiltered dreg that noticeably softened the whole moutfeel. Sweet and salty with neither in too much abundance, great moutfeel...no problems here! Thanks JCW!
