Aroma is musty and metallic with some sweet notes as well. Not overly aromatic or impressive. Transparent dark golden body with a medium, frothy, white head and fair lacing. Some sweet, chewy malty flavors are present to start. A bit of an oily body is present. Light metallic notes with also a little bit of noble hop spiciness to finish. Has a bit of banana-ish ester flavor, too. I’m not a huge maibock fan, but I suppose this is par. Wulfstan (481), California, USA Sep 22, 2008 This is an outstanding maibock. It is light amber with a very large light tan head slowly shrinking to a thin head with some decent lace. The smell is rich bread, crust, hints of hay, pine, honey, raisins, and herbs. The tatse is full-bodied, complex, and interesting, yet smooth and highly drinkable. It has honey, raisins, grapes, lightly toastyed bread, herbs, grass, a hint of pine, some wine and a spritzy-juicy quality, smooth, with great balance. mjg74 (1867), La Mesa, California, USA Sep 12, 2008 Bottle from BevMo, La Mesa. Medium golden in color. Moderately sized head. Sweet malty aroma with a bit of graininess. Sweet flavors up front with a little bit of bready maltiness and some grains. Light hop bitterness in the finish.
