3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
May ’15. On tap at the brewpub (Munich airport). It poured hazy yellow body with medium sized head. Malty honey and lemon aroma. Lightly hoppy. A bit chalky flavor, bitter, lemony and herbal, also slightly peppery. Malt notes were less pronounced. Medium in body with long finish considering the style. Fine honey malt was again dominating the aftertaste. A very pleasant pils with lots of typical brewpub characteristics.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Airbräu, Munich Airport, Terminal 2 in Dec. 2015: Hazed golden. Creamy, natural-looking white foam. Bright aromas of lemon marmalade, hay, peach Danish, fresh-cut melon, orange pith and a hint of rustic sulfur. Subtle soapiness. Assertively hoppy from the get go, with zesty, oily and lemony notes backed by an orange pith softness. Bright esters supplement the well attenuated body with a succulence, as the continually unfolding hoppy complexity reveals some appetizing peppery shades. Aggressive hoppiness is oily to the point of being jammy. Richly textured pils malt shows grassy hay qualities which deftly buoy the hops. Kiss of dusty yeast and gripping minerals contrast nicely with the succulent body. Envelope-pushing hops are laced with satiating lemony oils and strong floral notes which give way to orangey hop burps at the finish. A lovely hopcentric rendition that would be at home in Franconia, but not what one expects to find in Southern Bavaria, or let alone, an airport. Unfiltered and brimming with old world charm. Perhaps a little soapy and doughy at times, but that’s easy to forgive. Really enjoyed the dunkel, weissbier and unfiltered helles, as well. As a side note: their system is a beautiful thing…copper kettle, wooden mash tun and wooden fermenter! Looking forward to my next flight to MUC, just to fuel up on some decent food and excellent beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy yellow color with a nice white head. Aroma is bready/toasty, with a lemon-zesty hop character. Taste is quite dominant on the lemony hops and some spicy yeasts that complement them, with a bready undertone that works together with the rest just fine. Mouthfeel is quite crisp, but also quite "unfiltered", meaning a bit silky and you do get the yeasts in there. Later in the mouth, you get some weird veggie and phenol notes, egg shell and sulfuric - maybe it’s not meant to be kept in the mouth for too long. Or was this just my first DMS beer? I leave the rating standing, because besided this weird flavour, it’,s bare necessities, but incorporated nicely and with some extra citrus zest!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Airbräu MUC. Late-hopped / dry-hopped with Huell Melon. Hazed gold with a lasting white head. Hoppy and zesty and yeasty, it’s pulpy and orange-lemon-pepper focused with a hard citrus bite due to the firm yeast presence. The consequence of this is that the malt profile is somewhat buried, but what is there is enjoyably toasty and baguette-like. Medium bodied, semi-sweet with palpable bitterness. Finishes dry and pithy, yeasty and creamy but not doughy (only a little eggy/sulfuric, but it fits well in the whole of the experience). It’s fuller-bodied and burlier than you expect of Pilsner, but it’s not weighty, and the sweetness is appropriately balanced. It’s really the bright effervescence that brings it all together; just shy of being sharp and grating, it instead blends well with the "pulpy" and "zesty" quality of the yeast, presenting the citric hops and toasty malt in stellar fashion. A surprisingly clean, bitter, and slammable unfiltered Pilsner, not something I would expect from an airport brewery, even in Germany.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap (0.33 l) at the brewpub at Munich airport. Clody light yellow color, good head. Fruity hop aroma of grapes and maybe Litchi. Quite mild for a Pilsener, but the fruity refreshing taste is amazing.

Light to medium sweet flavor with doughy bread, faint floral hops, sugary cereal. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with notes sweet biscuits, cereal, white bread, mild bitter straw.
