COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Airdale Dark & Stormy, is a specialty beer made in the Imperial Stout style. Dark & Stormy packs a 10% ABV punch, but don’t let that scare you! This beer starts with a pleasant aroma of coffee and cocoa. A gourmet flavor of bittersweet chocolate surrounds the tastebuds and melds with the full-bodied beer to make this sensation last and last. Not too dry, not too sweet, Dark & Stormy blends the two into a wonderful semi-sweet taste. The high alcohol imparts a comfortable warming feel, but is perfectly balanced with the flavors and aromas. A nice coffee bitterness lingers on the finish, enticing you to take another sip.
ABV varies between 9.5% and 10%.

Draft. A dark nut brown beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and alcohol, leading to a dry, roasted, and bitter finish.

From tap at Coronado. Pours dark brown with a huge tan head. Light caramelish and roasted malt aroma. Crisp liqourice and roasted malt with a light chocolate and coffee hint. Roasted and acidic flavoured finish with a nice roasted and liqourice like touch.

Tap at Ritual Tavern, San Diego. Rich and chocolatey with hi carbonation, sort of like an Italian chocolate soda.

On tap. Pours with a black body and a tan head that lasts for a bit. Aromas of roast, vanilla, light esters, coffee and dusty cocoa nibs. Flavors are sweet, chocolate, licorice and a lot of dark fruit. Creamy and a bit warming. Medium bubbles, full bodied. Lingering dark fruit esters. Good.

Tap at Urban Solace in SD. Black pour, tan head. Aroma is roasted, molasses, raisins, light espresso and chocolate. Flavor hits with more alcohol than I expected with roasted malt, chocolate and some molasses.

Tasted at the 13th Annual Strong Ale Fest on 12/5/2009. This imperial stout pours a dark black color from the tap. Medium sized tan foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and some vanilla. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. The hops are earthy. Nice balance between the coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and hops. Good carbonation. A deceptive Imperial Stout. Lots of flavor, and a far amount of alcohol but it does not taste that huge. Nicely made. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Dark brown with almost no head. Roasty chocolate aroma and taste with a semi dry finish.
