Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, dark brown, nice head. Starts mild, fine malty, light roasty with some earthy notes. Not too intense. Finish well balanced, quite drinkable. Nice!

Bottle from Landbierparadies, Nurnberg. Mahogany, with no head and next to no carbonation. Brown sugar, a touch of plum fruit, slight toastiness and a gentle finish. Ok.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkronne. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, leicht schokoladig. Geschmack röstmalzig, schokoladig, minimal würzig.

On tap at the Gasthof Brennerei Stuben in Wilhelmsdorf, Aischgründer Dunkel has a rich, dark amber appearance and an aroma with light caramel overtones. The head retention is fair. Its taste is a bit sweet and carmel, with a sweet finish, too: a nice, drinkable beer. ---Cheers until next time! DMSR

Dunkelbraun, der Schaum ist schnell verschwunden. Das typ. würzmalzige Aroma eines Dunklen, allerdings mit leichter Lakritznote. Im Geschmack sehr ähnlich. Nicht mein Geschmack.

swing-top bottle, best by December 2012. dark cola brown body with a small off-white head. strongly metallic nose with solvent and paint-like yeast notes in addition to the requisite brown malt and light cola scents expected in dunkel. husky toasted malt flavor with mild metal and yeast. simple flavor, sorta watery all around, and a little too oxidized.

Swing-top by 18.09.12. Nose very mild, straight up Munich, pours a dark, cloudy mahogany with heavy ruby highlights and a lacing, sudsy tan head. Thin, watery body, primarily tangy, to the detriment of any sweetness or bitterness. Light red fruits around the edges.
