StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 12, 2007 Booming from the bottle, settling in as translucent golden rod. An icy, oil overlay comprises the head. Husky, grainy aroma strides with some corn chex, creamed wheat and sun stroked oats. Perfume and baguettes and a sweet cream plastic composure. Straight up blond bock with toasted corn husks and seven grain biscuits. Fuller bodied mouthfeel with caramel capsulation of dried out wheat stalks. Cornish oats and sweet cream integrated into buttery baguettes. Bleached flour takes it to corn bran muffins in the finish, finishing with an all out toasted display to the grain planes of yore. Thanks for the bottle, tpkenned!
GarrettB (418), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 23, 2008 I have to wonder how old my bottle was (drunk on March 7th, 2008), because this was still called the Maibock. Whatever its name, this is the third in a string of Aktienbrauerei beers that have been less than thrilling. Even a sturdy poor produces little head hear, and the body has a hazy Autumn glow, with slow, lazy bubbles casually climbing to the top of the glass. This might explain the wan aroma, with the tiniest fumes of apple and pineapple. Despite the attenuated smell, the flavor bursts with a sour off-tasting apple streak, which then fades until it disappears way off into the aftertaste. It is pungent, alcoholic and a bit chemical. with a persistence on the tongue that needs a desperate rinsing. No good. Miksu (1348), Jyväskylä, Finland Jun 15, 2008 0.33 l bottle. Golden color with small head. Malty aroma with some fruitiness. Malty and fairly hoppy flavor (for a bock) with herbal and peppery hops, medium bitterness, toffee and hints of alcohol. Slightly chewy mouthfeel. badlizard (1568), San Diego, California, USA Mar 27, 2008 from Holiday. Clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Sweet wheat bread aroma, malty taste, and a smooth finish. dwyerpg (2143), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 18, 2008 Wow. Nice. First impression. Malty first sip and the same from thereon. Quite nice, though a bit on the malty side for me. nuplastikk (510), USA Feb 7, 2008 500ml bottle Heller Belli Bock bottle. Light golden color with a faint cloudiness. Very sweet and rich, with the pungent malt/yeast characteristics of a Maibock. Fruity tastes dance around the moderately high alcohol. A little more of a floral aroma and mild hop character than a lot of Bocks. Great beer, for the true German Lager lover.
