Jul 3, 2004 Dark, clear chocolate colored with little head. Sweet nose with rye, chocolate, licorice. Sweet flavor, bready, some anise/licorice, slight tannic bitterness. Wonderfully balanced, among the best doppelbocks available.

Nov 18, 2001 Oooh! Yum! This is a one bottle review. I want to try this again. Interesting slighlt musty aroma. Excellent smooth toasty malt flavor. Mild to moderate carbonation. Hops are wonderfully balanced. A good, chewy doppelbock. Picture yourself with good friends, a fine cigar and a warm late enening atmosphere in a German cafe.

Jan 10, 2007 Has a very nice sweet caramel aroma. Taste is also sweet, lots of sugar. This is an excellent doppel, very dessert like. One of my favorites of the style.

Oct 1, 2001 Not as big or heavy a DP as Salvator or Aventinus but very tasty. Well balanced with a nice hop presence. If you like German Doppelbocks than this one is a must try!

Aug 17, 2003 After a long walk through the hills of Fussen this doppelbock came along. Very dark appearance. Aroma and flavour of roasted malts, coffee, bit winey. Very well balanced. I've only tried it once, but it could well be the best beer of this year's holiday.
