argo0 (6004), Washington DC, USA Nov 1, 2003 Clear light golden body with small white head. Aroma is medium sweet and grassy. Taste is medium sweet, tart, some caramel, grassy, light floral. Crisp light body. Much closer to a pilsner in style than a marzen. Quite enjoyable. Ernest (4169), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2001 Updated: Mar 31, 2007Bottle (newer/different labels). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, bread), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with light notes of honey and peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. A bit too sweet for drinking much of, but it’s clean, juicy, and pleasant. This is of the golden-colored variety of festbiers (don’t expect a Vienna), which seems to throw Americans off for some reason. I’ve been rating this here in Colorado since 2002, and it still has only 25 ratings? Weird. acrdz (4084), Pennsylvania, USA Sep 13, 2007 500ml bottle
Clear golden honey colored body with a small white head. Fresh hay in the nose, some squash, some crisp biscuit and cracker malts, and a light honey sweetness as well. Flavor is pretty similar, with lots of fresh cut hay, some dried leaves, some squash, and some pils malt. Very fresh, very tasty, nothing too overdone. Very nice. DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Dark straw in color, with aroma of caramel malt, hops, slight toffee and brown sugar. MEdium palate with flavors of caramelly grainy malt, brown sugar, some spicy floral notes, and some backup lemongrassy hops. BBB63 (3667), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 27, 2004 What the heck, a krystal straw hued marzen? Has a fizzy white head and litlle lace. The aroma hints of aromatic and grassy hops, apple, pear, bready malts and yeast esters. The taste is very similar to a amped up pilsner, crisp and clean, lightly citric and fruity, grassy and bready undertones. The mouthfeel is thin for style. Okay, this is not a normal fest brew, but is good never the less.
