subcell (94), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Not a huge fan of most fest beers I find in my area but this was really good. It was not overly bitter and had a very nice hop aroma. This was a very well balanced fest beer that I could honestly drink day after day. DA (2261), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 30, 2004 Updated: Jan 10, 2007This brew gives off a very refreshing floral hop, light fruity, grassy aroma that really brings out the feeling of summer. A nice golden color with a small white head. Taste is very crisp and refreshing with a light carbonation that brings it to life. Tastes of apple and pear come through with a light malt complex and a good balance from the floral hops at the end. Very refreshing brew that i would love to be able to bring a few of these while camping in the summer. Zoob (84), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 29, 2004 Hey now if this is a "true" example of an Oktober fest, then US attempts are way off the mark. THis is beer is Yellow Gold in color (not as I expected.. looking for a redder version). Aroma is a nice malt with a certain creaminess about it. The mouth feel is excellent with this product, medium full and a velvety smoothness to it, this is the hight point! Low carbonation, and a nice nobel hop finish (medium bitter for style?) posibly Spalt?
Nice beer, although I expected something different... I prefer there Helles
Cheers
Ernest (4178), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2001 Updated: Mar 31, 2007Bottle (newer/different labels). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, bread), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with light notes of honey and peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. A bit too sweet for drinking much of, but it’s clean, juicy, and pleasant. This is of the golden-colored variety of festbiers (don’t expect a Vienna), which seems to throw Americans off for some reason. I’ve been rating this here in Colorado since 2002, and it still has only 25 ratings? Weird. argo0 (6018), Washington DC, USA Nov 1, 2003 Clear light golden body with small white head. Aroma is medium sweet and grassy. Taste is medium sweet, tart, some caramel, grassy, light floral. Crisp light body. Much closer to a pilsner in style than a marzen. Quite enjoyable.
