MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Dark brown slightly reddish color with a thin light-tan head. Aroma is light cherries and chocolate. Sledge Jr (2693), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 25, 2008 in the bottle from seattle beerworks. pours brown with a very thin, almost no head. has a malty maple aroma. this is a big caramel malt bomb. this is like eating chocolate nougat from the whitman’s sampler. has a medium to smooth palate. great chocolate malt flavor. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 25, 2008 This bottled brew from INdianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of foamy tan colored finely sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent dark brown colored typically carbonated body and a good lacing. The aroma had brown malt, mild roasted and smoky notes. The mouth feel was mellow from strta to finish with a mildly vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of brown malt semi sweet and a mild bock like note. IrishBoy (2057), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 7, 2008 .5L bottle from Hollingshead Deli; Nose of molasses, brown sugar, and raisins, with a wine note; clear dark red-brown with a small tan head; flavor is raisins, toffee, and some slight sweetness. I have liked all the beers I have had from these guys! EithCubes (1756), Indiana, USA May 24, 2008 Bottle. Big aroma, molasses, port wine and brown sugar, dark spice, nuts, and a funk that I just can’t place but that reminds me of my childhood. Cherry, red berry, lighter caramel. A bit of soap scum odor, perhaps - Dove or Dial? though that’s just on the bottle. Chestnut / mahogany pour with a rocky tan head. Taste is bitter, light grape and minimal carbonation, dry and fruity with cardboardy broad sugar and milk chocolate in the deep bg, a slight musty cellar note. Dry and nutty, increasingly up into the after. Really strong earthy, herbal tobacco notes dominate the overall flavor, the remind of HOTD’s Adam, but only as a child looking up to a fully-realized adult. Winey character is more Merlot than Port. Light body. Not your normal Bock, but very, very interesting. A gourmet sipper for dessert.
