3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ The BeerMongers... Poured dark brown with a thin head. This was quite ashy. No where near smoke but tasted like burnt earth and dirt. Low bitterness, roasty malts. Easy drinking. Cocoa, coffee, mocha, and a burnt sweetness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Clear deep dark copper brown, tan foam mostly fades. Aroma of treacle and roasty malt. Dark roast, earthy bitter bean taste, a tad thin, some cacao and caramel. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Sweetens a bit as it warms, still finishes bitter. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours ruddy dark brown with a beige/tan head. Aroma of bread and chocolate. Med body, more or less. Flavor is chocolate, a little greasy nuttiness, malt, earth. Sort of mocha somehow. There’s some fruity hop. It’s not wholly dry, but it’s dryer than not. Very nice to drink.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Really nice imperial brown from alameda brewing. Great roasted malt character, but there it bitterness and a slight hoppiness present that is really pleasant. Smooth and rich. We did a tasting of four brown ales at B's Craft Beer Lounge in Langley, BC and the general consensus of most of our clients was that this was the most pleasant.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown with ruby hints at the edges. Finger of foam. Aroma is malt centric - caramel, cereal, chicory, chocolate. Well balanced for such a big beer. Balanced by bitterness, not by hop aroma. Alcohol hidden. Surprisingly drinkable. Dare I say even a bit thin?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Garricks Head Pub, Victoria, Canada. Pours brown, off-white head. Nose is molasses, earthy hops, Flavour is really thick chewy caramel, citrus, California-style strong ale sweetness. A good big beer, the boldness doesn’t hide behind the brownness.

650ML bomber bottle pours dark brown in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains and some citrus. Taste is a roasted grain and citrus hop bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with modest carbonation. Nicely done brown ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitro at Bailey’s, PDX. Dark brown with characteristic nitro foam. Some lace left behind. Plenty of roast in the aroma. Lots more roast in the taste with coffee notes up front. Resides with some decent cocoa sweetness. Brown ale isn’t my favourite style but this is clearly a good example.

Bottle:   Brown in color, deep burnt brown sugar hues, moderate frothy light beige head, nice lacing.   Earthy/Soily malt like nose.   Thankfully not as dirty/soily on the tongue.   Otherwise malty, bready, sweet, a touch nutty.   Slight dark or bakers chocolate presense.   Body and mouthfeel are bigger than your average Brown, expected for this Imperial Brown.   Finishes with a sweet nutty maltiness, bready in a whole wheat sense, with a slight soily/earthy background.   Very respectable for an Imperial Brown.   Very little hop presense.   I can dig it.
