COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smooth, rich and creamy. Rye malt blends with roast and chocolate malts to create a new and delicious stout profile, balanced with soft and velvety hops. This northwest original is poured using the traditional nitrogen dispensing method, so it may take an extra minute to arrive, but the wait is worth it. The Black Bear won the Gold Medal at the 2003 GABF in the foreign-style stout category. Have a pint of Stout with the Seven-Barrel Burger or the Beer Battered Onion Rings.

Thanks Hayduke! Beyond black with a very small tan head that doesn’t show its face until after the pour. Light lacing. An interesting stout. Aroma is earthy with a bit of peat. Light chocolate and coffee, dark fruit, roasted notes, mild hops and perhaps some fruit wood. Cherry keeps popping in and out. I was quite surprised to see that this is nitrogen infused. That usually mutes flavor and aroma. Without the nitrogen this would be a wild ride. There is a sourness throughout but also a sweetness. The finish was complex and flavorful with everything joining in and singing together as one choir. A small glass sample would be a disservice to this beer and raters who have it that way miss so much. A great deal happens after the first 1/3 of the 22 oz. pour. A fun beer! Thanks again, Ron!
