Ungstrup (11385), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 4, 2006 A black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with lots of roasted malt notes as well as notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet with an acidic note of roasted malt, as well as light coffee notes. Papsoe (10539), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 7, 2006 (Bottle 65 cl) Very dark brown with a vague tint of red and a dense, beige head. Lightly sweet and fruity with roasted malts. Medium body with a fairly high carbonation and accents of hard roasted malt. A vague, underlying tartness that I don’t believe is intentional. But drinkable indeed. 011206 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2005 Very dark brown. Beautiful aroma with nuts, dark chocolate and light espresso. Exceptionally well-balanced character hits all the right notes - light black malt, hint of tartness, rich chocolate, good hop underpinning. I don’t have a whole lot of notes on it, but when we judged this the gold medallist, what I had to say I think sums it up: "I asked to judge this category so I could drink beers like this." joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 3, 2006 Bottle.
Clack coloured with a beige head.
Roasted aroma with acidic notes.
Roasted flavour of coffee with notes of hops and light acidic notes. argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA Jul 24, 2004 (RBSG04) Black body with creamy brown head. Aroma is mild sweet, chocolate, some roasty. Medium sweet body, some chocolate, roast, some lactose. Creamy medium-full body. Sorry, but I don’t see what makes this a noteworthy beer.
