Commercial Description:
Smooth, rich and creamy. Rye malt blends with roast and chocolate malts to create a new and delicious stout profile, balanced with soft and velvety hops. This northwest original is poured using the traditional nitrogen dispensing method, so it may take an extra minute to arrive, but the wait is worth it. The Black Bear won the Gold Medal at the 2003 GABF in the foreign-style stout category. Have a pint of Stout with the Seven-Barrel Burger or the Beer Battered Onion Rings.

Black body, and a long lasting dark tan nitro head that left nice lacing on the glass. Malty roasted aroma, and a very roasty flavor, some coffee notes. Very smooth, and almost expansive in the finish. Very good.

Courtesof 11026. The aroma is boozy with hints of dust, cola, dark chocolate and roasted/burnt malt. The body is a deep black and holds a thin mocha colored head. The flavor side of things offers rich dark roasted malts, dark chocolate bittersweetness, mild tartness and a metallic twang. It could have been very good, but it tastes a little off I think. That metallic twang just distracts too much from the aroma and flavor.

I thought this was a great example of the style. Not overly sweet or too dry, but great with the upscale pub food served at the brewpub. Some hints of roastiness in the nose, and a lingering scent of perfumy hops and licorice. Some nice bittersweet chocolate notes on the palate, a bit of burnt cocoa and caramel as well, really creamy mouthfeel, with some bitterness coming through in the finish. Enjoyable.

Bomber bought from Capital Market, Salem . Gorgeous looking beer. black with dark, dark brown hints around the edges, good lookingbrown head. slightly roasty aromas, not too strong, some dark chocolate, slight fruit. Quite semi-sweet bitter, burnt toast towards the end, bitter black coffee finish mixed with treacle. Slight alcohol hint in the belly.Good stuff. Nicel on the palte, not as heavy as expected and thats a good thing as it adds a point or two for drinkability. Over all nice beer.

On nitro from the Green Dragon. Pours black with a silky smooth brown head. Roasted chocolate nose, soft burnt scent. Smooth and soft on the palate. Not the bitter kick that some provide, relying more on a bitter bakers chocolate balance, caramel flavors built toward the finish.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours deep dark blackness with lasting mocha head and some decent lacing. The aroma is full of roasted to burnt malts mixed with toastiness, burnt molasses and some mild sweetness. The taste kicks off with a bolt of roasted malts quickly followed by solid burnt to nearly charred malts mixed with licorice, malt balls and some malt astringency.
