22. Pours a crystal clear orange-y medium amber with a nice loose tan head knocking around. Light drops of lace. Garlicky nose, a little white pepper there. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, caramel, white pepper, grapefruit, and garlic on the mid palate. A little on the dark side of the hop bill, but has a nice fresh oiliness to it. Garlicky finish. Probably my new favorite IPA of the over-Summit-hopped school.

Tap @ Alameda. Hazy gold-orange pour with a persistent, short, off-white head leaving heavy lace. Nose is fairly light and balanced between malt and hops. Medium body and carbonation. Toast, pine, grapefruit and a touch of tropical fruit. Balanced more like the average American IPA and less like a West Coast IPA, which makes it a nice change from most. Mouth feel is excellent for an IPA, just the right amount of smoothness but never too polite. Very sessionable, but the ABV should give you caution about doing so.

Average IPA. Prickly carbonation. Toasty up front, more sticky-sweet toward the finish. Some scorched caramel and burnt bread crust. Hops provide a nice nip of pine, sweet flowers and grassy bitterness ... I just wish there were more of them. Overall, itís an OK IPA with a dollop of ho-hum. And on the technical side, I think itís too malt forward.

Beautiful hazy copper with full white head. Spicy bitterness on the nose. Full mouthfeel, alcohol is present. Sweetness on the finish. Great green and spicy bitterness. Strong malt rounds the beer out well.

murky red-tinted amber body with a quickly thinning and disappearing white head. strange burnt butter and oil nose. syrupy body; medium-high bitterness; dirty yeast phenols (black pepper and soil). saccharine sweetness throughout is the worst attribute. blah.

Hophazard (193) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 14, 2011
A grassy dank aroma mixed with slight fund. A hazy gold with a white head. Spicy, piney and resin start that quickly dries out the palate. Light in body that allows dangerously quick drinking. A good IPA that bursts with hop flavor.

Bottle:   Amber, slight haze, moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Hoppy nose, slight citrus peel and pine resin.   Similar tongue, hoppy, well balanced.   This seems like a straight forward IPA.   Enough malt to carry the bitterness, clean, with hop bitterness that is smooth and lingers quite a while after the exit.     Moderate body and mouthfeel.   This one was better than I expected.   All I can say is solid example of a good IPA.

weak mallty aroma. Pours a slightly cloudy copper-orange, flat. Fairly tasteless with an alcohol finish. Donít waste your time on this one.

A good IPA, a good organic one to boot. Kind of middle of the road, where its hoppy enough without any major flaws, but also not exactly something to rush out for.
