Huckleberry Hound is a light bodied, sessionable India Pale Ale with a new twist.... HUCKLEBERRIES! Take German Pilsner malt, American hops, an ale yeast strain, northwest huckleberries, artfully brew with them and you will have this amazing beer. This isn’t any wimpy fruit beer, it really is an IPA with 6.5% ABV and 55 IBU”S. It is just the perfect beverage to kick off the warm days of summer, whether you are out in the mountains gathering berries or relaxing on the river. Just watch out for the black bears.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the Alibi Room. Pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma of dark fruits (assume this is the huckleberries!) candy floss and acetone. Flavour is basically the same but no sign of a hop finish. Wouldn’t rush out to have it again.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A decent IPA especially given the fruity additions. A resinous IPA with some fruity (non specific) sweet notes, but a gorgeous color.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at OBF. Pours a hazy rose with a white head. Aroma seems blueberry. Med body. Flavor seems blueberry with so much resin/citrus hop the caramel backdrop is nearly lost. Flavor is dark berry and oh so NW in the finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma has the berries upfront, light acetic notes and cotton candy. Flavour of huckleberries, light sweetness, mild hops, with no bitterness on the finish. Drinkable, but boring.

First Annual Portland Fruit Beer Festival – Portland, OR
This being an Imperial IPA with added Huckleberry. This was light purple I color, clear hazy with a thin head. The flavors where strong IPA aroma and flavor. No Huckleberry comes out in this beer. I was disappointed. This was decent IPA.
