3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught pint at Redbones on 12/3/2006
Hazy, yet not nearly as much as some of Alamedaís other offerings. Iíd say about medium to medium-high clarity overall. Muted peachskin colored body with copper and light nectarines hues throughout. Sandy colored head is one and a half fingers high, frothy and recedes slowly to cover, providing plentiful lacing.
Dusty, almost metallic hop notes perk up at first, followed by some bready, medium-sweet crystal malt notes. But if it starts poorly, it picks up steam. Hops evolve in to a more fruity, if still somewhat muted bouquet of aromas, while a bit of perfume and dry pale malts show a healthy attenuation. Apparent bitterness, but not completely outdoing the aromatics. Breathing allows the breadiness to soften in to a more round caramel sweetness.
Light citrus in the flavor is joined by a brush of bitterness against the palate, but quickly fades in to a fully fruity and caramelly-sweet array of flavors. Strong, but not overly loose carbonation helps break apart the more rich malt notes, leaving lighter honeyish notes in its wake. Orange fruits (peaches mainly) and more citrus finish it off, but the malt sticks through to the end as well, especially in texture. Medium body no alcohol noted. Lightly slippery at times, from the yeast in suspension, but being as there isnt as much of it as usual, thereís also some softness from the malt that is felt. The best conditioned of Alamedaís beers Iíve had and my favorite so far.....

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap... Poured a hazy amberish-red with a white head, really nice lacing. Aroma of floral hops and earthy grains. A little bit of hops initially in the flavor but then the focus came to the creamy, caramel malts and bread-like flavors towards the finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark amber color with a moderate off white head on there. Nose is grassy and earthy and not all that inviting. Taste is a bit bitter and just not interesting. Bleh.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Hazy brown with massive unstable head. Strong yeasty aroma. Flavour also yeasty and itís overcarbonated. Maybe some defects in this one. A fair amount of malts in the background. Also some plastic. Not good.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at GABF 2007. Dark orange gold with a white head. I canít get much of a nose out of this one. Itís a little bit floral with only a mild hop scent. More hop presence to the taste with a bit of orange and hop tongue bite. However, only a moderately good pale ale.
