Serving: from bottle--purchased at Total Wine & More. Aroma: moderately sweet, grainy aroma--like pumpernickel bread. Appearance: very small, rocky, light-brown, initial head with fully diminishing longevity and good lacing. Dark-brown/black body. Taste: moderately sweet initial taste and lightly bitter finish with lightly acidic, roasted malt aftertaste. Long duration. Palate: medium-bodied with slightly dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall: very good. The sweet initial flavor offset the lightly bitter finish very well.

A bit of molasses flavor in this. Its a hardy beer, thick, distinct, but not my favorite.

22oz bottle pours a murky brown with a ring of beige head. Nose has a lot of soggy toast, brown sugar, mildly gristy, a little dried leaves, some roasted carrot. Flavot has a little Chinese barley tea, malty, bread crust, some brown sugar. Fairly clean finish. Drinks like it’s 4%.

Bitter beer, coffee hints. A nice beer. Liked it, good winter taste. Also chocolate hints. Rich beer.

described as an old ale/winter warmer, it looked the part...then things went south. multiple simultaneous drainpours. maybe infected, who knows. it was waxed in a 750, nice presentation. shitty beer. tart aroma and flavor on top of a malty base that just didn’t fit. a few sips in i’d had enough. Too bad...the only other Alameda brew i’ve had was an awesome impy stout."

Tap at alameda brewpub Portland, OR. Nitroed. Very subtle aroma, but I detect notes of caramel and chocolate malt. Pours dark copper colored with a creamy, off-white head and good lacing. Rich, creamy mouthfeel with notes of caramel and some chocolate. Finishes smooth and clean. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle. Deep murky brown. Aroma is grape, roasted malt, and a hint of sweet smokiness. Taste is sour grape, roasted malt, and campfire smoke. A little bitter on the finish, with a touch of sweet remaining at the end.

Bottle - pours pitch black with small head around rim of glass. Nose of smoke, coffee, and malt. Taste is smoky malt, coffee, and chocolate. Not bad though has a weak finish for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep brown coloured body with a two centimetre tall off-white head - like beige. Aroma of malt, toasted grain, basement, caramel and a light herbal note. Medium-bodied; Strong malt notes throughout with an emphasis on caramel and toffee, some lighter mushroomy and meaty flavours and some subdued grain and yeast tastes. Aftertaste shows a nice caramel and toffee flavour with a lot of grain and some lighter yeast and alcohol. Overall, a very nice beer with a lot of malt and some good toffee and sugars at the back end. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased a few minutes ago at Made in Oregon in Portland, Oregon (PDX Terminal D) on 06-December-2013 sampled a few minutes later in my hotel room here in Portland on 06-December-2013.

Bomber from Albertsons. Pours a clear brown color with a small beige head. A sweet malty nose, toffee and toasted malts. The flavor is super nutty, dry toasted malts, more toffee a bit of fruit. Pretty tasty and simple. A bit of chocolate.

A nice winter beer tat could use a little more thickness or viscosity. Overall seems to come off a little watery. Aroma and taste are right, dried fruit, spice, molasses and dark malt, but the body is very light. No hint of the high ABV either, but warming nonetheless.
