The Oregon hazelnuts give this porter a tasty nut flavor and nicely compliment the chocolate & roast flavors. Well balanced with a smooth finish. Grain: 2-Row Malt, Chocolate Malt, Cara-Pils, Crisp C-77, and Black Barley. Hops: 1st Gr. Northern Brewer.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: roasty, malty, and nutty, with hints of chocolate, burned grain, raisin, and leather. Taste/Palate: thin, crisp, and a bit sweet; finishes slightly astringent and bitter.

Keg at the taproom, PDX, 11/11/14. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is light roast, toffee, dark fruits, chocolate. Taste comprises tangy red berries, light coffee, nutty pangs, touch roast, cocoa rub. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a thick caramel head. Aroma is all oats. Taste is bland with a heavy amount of nuts. Not really that good at all.

Bottle. Pours a near black color with a smallish tan head on it. Nose is pretty roasty, with a little bitnof nuttiness coming through on it. Taste is very slightly sweet, with a fair amount of roasty bitterness coming through. Light and easy to drink. I like it.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 A nutty fragrance dominates but is supported by aromas of roasted malt and perhaps vanilla. Pours as black as a crow’s butt with no head and no lacing. The taste is roasty, bitter chocolate, charred grain and hazel nuts. Medium body with medium carbonation. Round mouth feel. Overall, an enjoyable and tasty porter

Black wax-dipped bomber. Nice Halloween-ish label with bats, the crow, full moon, graves. I guess I got to this one a little late. Aroma is slightly nutty, roasty, black coffee, fresh baked bread, chocolate. Pours opaque black with brown edges and a small tan collapsing head. Taste is sweet, roasty, lightly nutty. Mouthfeel is velvety, body medium to near full. Pretty good, but I wish they would have made the hazelnuts more prominent. None of this nuanced shit. Give me full palate-saturating flavors when you put out a flavored beer, please.

The color is almost black, with beige head. Mild roasted malt aroma. Good roasted malt flavor, with light acidity, roasted malts, not specifically hazelnuts.
Good, balanced, well brewed.

A 650 ml bomber from Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. A black brew with modest tan head. Coffee and chocolate overtones are prominent. I’m not getting hazelnuts here, or even nuts for that matter. No matter! A lovely porter.

Bottle at 16th Street (thanks Chris), pours black with a medium beige head. Nose is full of roast, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Flavour comes across more like a stout in its robustness, full of heavy roast, roasted nuts, and a little dry chocolate. Full-bodied and creamy. Really well-made.
