vyvvy (1775), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2006 Sampled at Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival 2006. Pours light copper with a small soapy head and hop particals floating around. Aroma has spicy earthy grassy hops. There is also good solid caramel malt for balance. The beer is medium bodied with soft carbonation. Taste has lots of hops - spicy, earthy and green. There is nice balance with the malt. The finish is very spicy and piney with the hops. Nicely done IPA.
esjaygee (918), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 23, 2008 Draught at Alandale Brewpub. Dark amber with the thinnest of heads. Citrusy aroma. Medium body, a little lightly hopped for an IPA though it did have a long bitter finish. DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Oct 31, 2007 Draft sample. Lighter in color than the amber ale, with a nice clingy foam. Pineapple/grapefruit hop comes through even my stuffy nose. Taste is everything promised, with a catbox suggestion of amarillo hop, too. RealAleDave (45), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Aug 7, 2007 Clear light amber gold. Extremely fine white head settles to a thin cap.
Nice combination of citrusy American hops, crackery malt, and a touch of caramel on the nose. Seems to be several hops going on here, but they work well together.
Beautifully balanced in the mouth with the hops and malt working together very well. It’s quite bitter, and the stiff spine of IBUs carries a complex blend of bread, cracker and caramel to a long finish.
Mouthfeel is fine, with enough mineral goodness to let the hops snap at the death. Really drinkable for the style and strength. Wonderful beer. smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Mar 27, 2007 aroma (peach and citrus). taste is pretty much straight up citrus with very subtle biscuit with slight smoke maltiness. moderate bitterness that lingers into strange plastic tastpours amber. very respectable hop e. ok but is more of an apa than aipa. kwoeltje (1230), Manchester, Missouri, USA Mar 26, 2007 (at the brewpub) dark amber with nice off white head. Nice lace. Citrus/pine hops aroma. Flavors also with pine and citrus hops but with a substantial malt background. Solid AIPA albeit not as hoppy as some.
