3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Narnad (1136) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - JUL 13, 2009
This brew will not be around much longer as they are phasing it out. Arrived to the table a dark brown/black with a tan head and low carbonation. Aromas are dark fruit with some light roasted malt notes. Feeling of the brew is slightly watery. Flavor has a lot of prune, light roasted malt, some chocolate and a light dryness to the end. Not bad in flavor and aroma for the style just lacks a good feel to back up the other senses.

Pours dark brown with a medium khaki head and great lacing. Aroma is dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, and toffee. Flavor is cherry, chocolate, coffee, burnt toast, another dark fruit (dates) note, and a grassy dry finish. Very good.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. flavor has more of a burnt quality to it with some coffee but is very watery. Most people on here have enjoyed this one but i think is sub-par. Its to thin to be a good stout.

Tasted 4/14/08. Draft from the brewpub. Dark brown with ruby highlights. Moldy off-white head. Aromas of toffee and anise. Caramel and cola. Touch burnt malts and coffee acidity. Toasty and nice. Medium bodied and mildly cloying. Touch mild hop flavor. Solid.

Draught at Alandale Brewpub. Dark brown with thin off-brown head. Coffee and roasted malts on the nose, more of the same on the tongue and the faintest hint of chocolate, though the coffee wins out in the end. A touch thin but overall not too bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (4525) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 29, 2008
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a dense dark beige head that dissipates slowly. Thin sheet of lacing. The aroma contains coffee and dark malt along with a touch of hops. Medium-bodied with a coffee and dark chocolate flavor, as well as some malt and hops. The finish is sweet malt at first with a mocha finish. Pretty good overall.
