3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep dark clear orange color. Sweet malty aroma, rich taste that ends slightly sweet. Much better than your average amber ale.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
(15May2003--12oz.bottle) Hmm, pretty disappointing. Thin, spongy head, mostly receding, uneven lace, limp carbonation. Deep copper color. Aromas of grape, yeast, and a pleasant, airy floral aroma. Limp body, not helped by the almost total lack of carbonation. Tangy hops, of the cheap macro-swill ilk. Starts with the nice malt profile + bubblegum of the Alaskan Winter Ale, but finishes bland. Pretty clean finish, at least.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice bronze body, with a light, off-white head, a pleasantly mild malt aroma, a good balance between the malt and hops, crisp and refreshing, and very smooth front to back. Pretty good.

Pours a glowing copper with a light eggshell head. Soft pale malty aroma. Flavor is light, semi-sweet, and earthy. This is a good altbier that is well-balanced.

Rather sweet. I find it goes well with Seafood. I had a pint for breakfast while waiting for an early flight in Portland OR. Was nice. Pleasant sweetness on the tongue.

The white head lasted for a long time atop the copper body. That head allowed the aromas of light chocolate and a hint of floral hops to seep out. the flavor was munich malt first and foremost followed by slight chocolate notes, some esters and good balancing bitterness. the medium-light body went down smooth and made me sit back and enjoyed the harmonious balance of this beer.
