3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2003 Aroma is nice and malty with very little hops. Very little hops flavor as well, mostly just sweet. The body is thin which keeps it less filling. A decent beer for non beer drinking company.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Malt emphasis on the nose is almost raw like popping the can on a beer kit, while I find the sweetness on the palate a little too syrupy. I really don’t get the hop bitterness from the description more of a dry grainy toasiness that you get from a Marzen. Drinkable but too sweet for my taste. Would probably work well with Alaskan food.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2003 A nice floral and carmelly aroma with a hint of brown sugar. The flavor compliments the smell. Sugary sweetness with a slightly numbing hop flavor. Not much of a finish that leaves your taste-buds quite quickly. The coloration is a beautiful amber color and a nice foamy head with little to nothing to complain about.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I really want to like this beer, but is just too sweet for me. Good amber color in the glass with a nice head on it. The flavor is well balanced, it just finishes too sweet for me.

GABF 2002: Bright amber color. Strong caramel aroma, with clean caramel flavors up front. Light bitter finish. Well balanced. One of the best ambers I’ve tried.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly hazy deep amber with minimal head. Sweet caramelly aroma, supplemented by sugar cane. The flavor has what the aroma suggests, plus a bit of spiciness so it’s not unbearably sweet. Minimal bitterness, but quite full bodied. Evokes Fuller’s.

The brewer seems to have a house character that I don’t get along with that well...we’re kind of like fake friendly towards eachother. Sweet malting and not much more than that one-dimensionality is what I find. Oh, it’s not bad, and in fact, I think it’s pretty good...I just don’t like it all that much.
