3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 That1Guy (1490) - Lyons, Colorado, USA - MAR 26, 2009
Crushed with Jakebra at Falling Rock. Musty, malty nose. Kinda thin bodied, but some nice smooth flavor and a bit of hops makes it kinda aight.

Bottle, pours dark copper. Nice aroma of dark fruit, dark sugar with a copper like note. It has a strong malt taste with sweet notes and high carbonation with a slightly thin feel. This would be a good session beer.

12 oz. bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a reddish gold (amber perhaps!) with a quickly dissipating head. Caramel malt in the aroma along with some sweetness. Light to medium bodied. Malt predominates, a little on the sweet side. Some hop bitterness helps to balance things out. Easy drinking beer, but pretty unremarkable IMO.

Pourns amber into the glass with a small white head. Aroma is clean biscuit/caramel malt with minimal hop character. Very clean malt flavor with just enough bitterness to counteract the sweetness. Very smooth and drinkable.

I’ve had this a few times at the bars and thought it was an odd tasting amber ale, but to my surprise, it is an alt! Pours a sparkling clear, coppery-amber color with an average, cream-colored, frothy, pillowy head which sticks around with a small, frothy layer and leaves nice, tight lace. Nose is toasted cereal, sweet grains, faint brown sugar, faint doughy yeast, faint fruity notes; fairly light but pleasant. Flavor is buttery sweet biscuits, light toffee, almonds, sweet and toasted cereal, and a moderately light bitterness into the finish. Palate is nearly medium, nearly lively carbonation, and a soft, silky feel with a touch of dryness. Finishes fairly short, drying out some, with some nutty notes, and bitterness remaining. Not bad; a fairly nice alt. Not the most exciting of beer styles but very drinkable and pleasant.

On tap. Nice malty aroma with a very light hop scent. Amber in color with a small head. Good malt flavor, slightly sweet, with a nice smooth finish. Soft carbonation. This is a good beer out of the bottle but even better on tap. One of Alaska’s better known beers.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 cathcacr (619) - Oregon, USA - FEB 26, 2009
#536 (Mickey Mantle) Nice malty aroma giving way to fruitiness, medium body, medium flavor, medium to watery palate, pretty much a regular old amber micro. A better thing to have come out of Alaska than its politicians.

Amber colored. Good sized off white head that fully diminishes. Aroma of caramel. Sweet malty caramel initial flavor balanced out by some hops in the end. Not a bad beer.
