Bottle from Grandma Fratto. Light orange pour with an off-white head. Aroma is a little toasted, very caramel, and sweet. Taste is cardboard, chocolate, light spice, and burned caramel.

A better than average amber. A bit watery with a weak body, but the nice flavor of caramel malts and hops makes this a session beer to look for. (3/23/2011) Tried this from a bottle in Juneau during the 4 IGERT workshop.

Not a bad amber but not to great either. Has an earthy smell to it, a little sweet a little bitter.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 drpimento (1740) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Tasty stuff and true to style, as far as I can remember. Served at a good temperature and poured with a lovely, light tan, foamy, frothy, billowy, fluffy head that lasted a while and plenty of lace. Color is a clear dark amber with loads of bubble trails. Aroma is malt, a bit of roast, toffee. Flavor is malt, slightly sweet, balanced nicely with tang and a bit nutty. Body is just right; ditto carbonation. Finish is like flavor, balanced, and without flaws, tapering with average length. Decent brew.

On tap at McGovern’s Pub in St. Paul, poured an amber color with a thick puffy head. The aroma was of cherry and caramel malts. The taste was similar in quality, very sweet with a long cherry malt finish. A decent Amber Ale.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 lovibond (115) - New York, USA - NOV 19, 2011
From bottle, purchased at Molly Stone’s on California Av, Palo Alto (Mayfield) CA. This may have been mishandled on its way to me; it seemed to be oxidized.
Malty, bready aroma, with a hint of oxidation and faint hops. Amber in color, as advertised, with light head.
Flavor was a bit disappointing; a bit of oxidation was distracting. Some maltiness, bitterness primarily front-of-mouth but subdued for an Altbier at an estimated 20 BU. Medium-full mouthfeel.
I hope this was atypical of this beer, as I have heard great things of it!

On tap at Dexters in Madison, pours a clear dark amber/brown with a decent off white head, the aroma was sweet with a good amount of caramel and dark fruit, the flavor had a nice sweet front end with dark fruit, a hint of chocolate and a finish of hops, not bad at all.

Ah, Alaskan Amber - along with Full Sail is one of my favorite "broadly accessible" ambers. Combines a rich malt base with some choice hops to bring it to life and provide balance. Never too sweet or too bitter, a great benchmark for the easy drinking amber.

Pours a wonderful deep amber color with a small white head. Aromas of sweet malt and a hint of hop. Flavor is of malt with a tiny hop bite in there as well. Nice finish. Not too bad. Thanks Brewblackhole for this one!

Poured from a bottle. Deep yet clear amber color with a tan head that disappears quickly. Toasted malt flavor with a smooth finish.
