COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer style comes from the German word “alt” meaning “old”. This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.

Much better than anticipated. Moderate malt and grain aroma. Nice dark amber color with sustainable head. Heavy palate. The feel was weighty and almost creamy. Nice carbonation level. This was a cross between an amber and an alt with a good malty and bread backbone. Not much else, especially in the way of hops but it didn’t seem to need it. One of my new favorites among this brewery’s core products.

Poured from the tap. This beer has a very nice malt and yeast aroma. The beer has a nice dark brown color with a small off-white head. The flavor is malt, nuts and some hops, pretty good. Overall, a solid beer that I would drink again.

Bottle at Daves Diner near Sea Tac. Clear amber brown. A little beige foam. Malts lead with grain and fruit behind. Balanced sweetness. A hint of cinnamon. Ok.

Sampled from the bottle at the St. Paul Beer Fest. Pours a clear gold with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light grass note with a hint of light fruit and a grain backbone. Flavor is mild with grass and grain and not much else.

Angenehmer malziger und leicht sirupartiger Geruch. Für ein "Alt style Lager" dann aber zu wenig Hopfenaroma und Bittere. Der Geschmack ist hauptsächlich süß und malzig und etwas kratzig im Nachtrunk.

On taip on a 26 Glacier Cruise / Whittier AK --- Clear dark amber color with a beige head cover and short strips of lace. Aroma of caramel. Taste is clear caramel malt that becomes more like toffee as it moves through a lightly carbonated swallow, followed by mild hops in a finish that is lingering only because of the fizz. A decent "normal" brew.

Bottle poured into an airport lounge plastic solo cup. The color was a reddish brown with a beige head. The aroma was earthy with a hint of caramel while the flavor was a dominant caramel sweet maltiness.

The pour is a nice mahogany with a beige head. The aroma is pumpernickel bread, earthy, spicy hops, malted barley, and a bit of caramelized sugar. The mouthfeel is firm, with a medium-to-thin body and sustained carbonation. The taste is moderately bitter, with background sweetness and a dry finish. Peppery, bready, and caramel flavors are pretty evident. A really nice, balanced, tasty session beer.

Bottle: clear, Amber copper color with a light head that dissapates and no real lace. Caramel, malt aroma. Dry, not sour and low bitterness. Sweet flat caramel flavor. Nice malty profile. Very clean and balanced. Lacks a little freshness. Good flavor but slightly heavy or sweet finish due to the lack of CO2.

couleur ambrée; mousse beige très fine; odeur caramélisée; goût malté; bière trop sucrée avec un arrière-goût métallique; déception

Pours a clear amber with a light tan head. The smell is toasted malt, mild fruit, grass. The taste is toasted malt, mild fruit, crisp, dry fruity ending. Light+ with average carbonation.
