COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name of this beer style comes from the German word “alt” meaning “old”. This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.

Nice clear dark amber pour with a somewhat smallish light cream-color head. Malty aroma of caramel and biscuit. Flavor is predominantly malt, but not overly sweet. Mostly bready malt with some caramel sweetness and just a touch of nuttiness. Light mouthfeel and just a slightly dry finish. Not terribly complex, but quite easy drinking.

12oz Flasche. Klare rot-braune Farbe, flacher Schaum. Röstmalu und Karamell Aroma. Etwas süsser als ein deutsches Alt, aber nicht schlecht.

Aroma is rather weak. Notes of malt and caramel in the nose. Taste of caramel and sweet malt. Balanced by hops so it’s not too sweet Good beer

Pours a clear dark orangish red with a thin fizzy head. Light malty aroma with hints of hay and honey. Sweet malty taste. Taste and aroma are both fairly weak and bland. Palate is watery. Not bad but boring.

Tap to pint. Pours hazy copper red, off white froth head. Aroma of caramel, raisin and honey. Aroma is light. Taste of same with some biscuit and graham cracker. Finish is very very slightly cardboard bitter. Mouthfeel is mod oily, mod carb for style.

Some caramelized malt and some light citrus. Pours golden with decent head and lacing. Light tangy finish. Some mash malt. Tap at Alaska Lodge at SEATAC.

Amber red with medium head. Smooth taste with caramel malt flavour. Like this interpretation of German Alt.

I am rating this as an Alt Bier per the bottle and Rate Beer. The aroma has more English caramel notes and less hops than a normal Alt. The hop aroma is not far but not quite the one of an Alt. The bitterness level is lower than an Alt and it has a caramelly sweet mid palate that is not appropriate for an Alt. The finish is not as dry or as hoppy as an Alt. Ok beer but not close to a Dusseldorf Alt.

pours amber with a thin tan head. Flavor and aroma are heavy malt. slight metallic aftertaste. Drinkable but not something I would get again.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle from Lee’s discount liquor store Las Vegas. Red brown, good head. Malty toffee aroma. Caramel malt flavour. Sour aftertaste. Not good. Only chose it because I liked the artwork and have a matching glass.
