A good beer. There was a nice nutty taste to the beer. Nice color and pour. Great on tap.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tjthresh (1840) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - AUG 18, 2009
I can’t believe I haven’t rated this beer. The first time I had this one was sitting at SeaTac after a trip back from Okinawa to see my girlfriend (now wife). This was when the world of beer changed for me. Pour is the same rusty Texas orange with a fizzy white head. He nose is loaded with Munich malt with a bit of sticky Snickerdoodle. There’s a certain citrus hop character in the aroma as well. The flavor is full of dry biscuity malts with a bit of a dark honey sweetness. Pretty big body and it a bit oily. Its a little sweet in the finish. Still, this beer was my first.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 legion242 (1838) - Richardson, Texas, USA - FEB 14, 2006
Alaskan Airlines- good malt presence that dominates and satisfies. Low hop character was much appreciated.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - OCT 26, 2010
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Aroma: The nose is malty with a slight toasted note and some caramel.
Appearance: It pours a nice amber color with a frothy, off-white head. There is decent head retention.
Taste: The flavor favors the malt with some bread and caramel. It’s leans to the sweet side, but there is enough grassy hops to provide some balance.
Palate: Medium bodied with average carbonation and a short to medium, slightly sweet finish.
Overall: Not a bad session brew and a pretty decent amber. Definitely worth drinking.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 SuIIy (1828) - Natick, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 10, 2005
12oz Bottle from Fordest. Pours a ruby amber color with minimal fizzy head. Nose is almost vacant, some light caramel notes here and there. Taste is very nice though. A great malt feeling, rich nuttiness, and some sweet caramel, rounded out with a nice bitter finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ElGaucho (1816) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JUL 8, 2004
Roasted malt aroma with faint hops notes. Hazy reddish amber in color with particalia. Small, off-white ehad. Caramel malt flavor with solid alcohol presence. Highly carbonated. Some hops come through at mid bottle. Not ad. Not overly special, but no flaws and interesting.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Fratto (1814) - Arlington, Texas, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Bottle from Grandma Fratto. Light orange pour with an off-white head. Aroma is a little toasted, very caramel, and sweet. Taste is cardboard, chocolate, light spice, and burned caramel.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JAN 15, 2005
Bottle. Stop the presses. I have found the most perfect session beer! Amber body with a one finger off white head. Nice dry spicy nose. Smells like apples and nuts. Notes of spice, banana, bubblegum, malt, and light cherry come through. Great clean finish. This is an excellent beer for any occasion.
