COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer is based on a turn-of-the-century recipe that quenched the thirst of miners during the Klondike Gold Rush. Smooth and richly malty, this altbier goes well with any meal.

I think this was my 1st alt style beer and it took a bottle to get used to it. The 2nd and 3rd bottles were much better. Creamy with good carbonation. Tried while in California.

355mL bottle poured a rich brown amber color with a nice off-white head with nice retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts and some citrus and floral hops. Taste is roasted malty sweetness with some nice hop bitter finish. This beer is nicely balanced, has a nice mouthfeel and is a pleasure to drink.

Bottle, pours pale gold, almost like a pilsener. Thin white head, also like a pils. Faint caramel aroma. Full malty body with some spiciness and much bitterness. An all over the tongue finish.

On tap from a food/beer vendor at Portland’s Saturday Market. Not really amber, more like a cloudy golden/copper with a white head. Aroma of grain, citrus and some floral hops. Flavor has notes of caramel, grain, hops and zesty lemon/citrus. Nice sweetness with some bitter hops at the end. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and lively carbontion. Average. I wouldn’t consider this an altbier.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2003 Draught: A rich mahogonay color. A decent malty aroma with a bit of citrus. Flavor is malty without being sweet. A hint of roastiness. Slightly bitter finish. Another fine Northwestern brewery. I have enjoyed this an a few trips to the Seattle area. Even with all the choices out there, it is still a beer I come back to.

glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 26, 2009
Bottle. Light to moderate cookie note for the malt, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with cardboard and dried dark fruits in the background. Head is frothy, slightly off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Flavor starts moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. Mild overall, but an easy drinking Altbier.

Bright copper with a solid off-white head. malty aroma. Tasted, sweet, crisp fruit, and light hops. Flavor is of a similar profile. Very clean and crisp although not all that exciting. Still, this is an easy to drink and tasty brew that I could stick with for an evening.

StefanSD (1542) - Lakeside, California, USA - JUL 30, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a rich copper color with an off white head. Aroma was very light with some spice and molasses. Flavor was mostly sweet malts with some anise, molasses, and a tinge of orange flavor. Hops were minimal, more hoppiness would have been welcomed. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Finish was sticky and filmy with more molasses flavor. Makes for a good clean-out-the-garage beer.
