4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 highlandlad (1319) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - JAN 14, 2005
The name’s a little confusing (beyond a simple colour label) because this is an Alt rather than a classic Irish-style amber ale. However, the beer is a treat. It poured with a thin head but the aroma was light and invitingly fruity. The palate is sweet and oily, with fruity notes and a hint of spice in a smooth finish. Very easy to drink. Even better on tap, I imagine. A gem.

Sampled many times. Pours brown with a light amberness and has a good solid head on it. Drinks crisp and goes down nicely. A very high quality amber.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 TChrome (1315) - Bedford, Texas, USA - FEB 16, 2004
Decent appearing beer, pours nice copper color with a rapidly diminishing off white head. Aroma is interesting. Smells malty and kinda aged. Flavor is nothing to write home about. Light malt sweetness on the front end. The finish is nice and spicy with some serious astringency.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 awaisanen (1312) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 23, 2006
From draught. Pours a cherry amber translucent color with a medium layer of creamy off-white head. Aroma of fried plantains, a splash of hazelnut liquore, and a touch of anise as well. A bit of fruity bubblegum notes as well. Light bodied mouthfeel with an exceptionally creamy texture. Flavors are nice and relatively sweet with some nice almond nutty tones and light raspberry fruits composingt the malt-biased palate profile. Final smack of lightly toasted banana bread.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 hawthorne00 (1306) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 23, 2011
Bottle. Amber with a light brown head that disappears. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, nuts. Quite carbonated and it doesn’t suit. Taste is sweet with caramel, some nuts. Spicy bitterness creeps up to balance. Some astringency and metal from the excessive carbonation.
