3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bitter (1137) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - MAY 17, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2005 on tap: looked just like the picture to the left, however i dont think the head was that nice? served way too cold, killing what little nose and flavor this beer has. slightly hop nose and same slight hop/malt flavors. much like a fat tire. but maybe a notch above. somewhat thin. easy to drink and refreshing. expected a little more from this.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kaya161 (1128) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 28, 2001
Of all the American beers that call themselves an alt beer most don’t even come close, but this one does. Nice malty nose and smooth buttery malt flavour.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 17, 2008
I find this to be a very nice amber ale. Always pleasing and consistent. This is my go to beer when I am in a place that has a lot of other crap on tap. A healthy maltiness, with lots of caramel and just a bit of a hop bite in the finish.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Sickboy282 (1109) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 21, 2002
This tastes just like the golden pale, but with a bit more of a smoked finish. The aftertaste of this one as well as the pale, was horrible. I was expecting much more. I will have to try the stout before I put this brewery out of my sights.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jefcon (1104) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - OCT 14, 2007
Thick amber pour with no head. Light malt aromas, but big malt -- nearly chocolate -- flavors. Plenty of hopping and a nice amount of carbonation to make the beer lighter on the palate than it would otherwise be.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kenb (1102) - Oregon, USA - OCT 27, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2006 12 oz bottle via Roth’s. Pours a crystal clear dark reddish amber with a nice average size dense head. Nose is a bit fruity, perhaps some cherries- with some caramel and molasses prevalent. And it is pretty sweet. Sort of a cross between a sweet nutty brown Ale and an amber ale. The hops are very subdued, perhaps they are British hops. Nice easy to drink tastey beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kmeves (1098) - Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 17, 2002
This is definitely the best "Alt" I have had yet. Aroma is a bit nutty, deep amber color. Nice sweetness, bitter finish. Try this beer!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - JAN 16, 2007
12oz btl, acquired from a nice gentleman at the Jack Daniels distillery of all places. Dark red/amber pour, fizzy diminishing head. Aroma is honeyed malts, toffee and graham crackers, all blended nicely. Subtlety is an Alaskan strength, best showcased here. Flavor is still sweet malts, with notes of toffee, berries and mild hop character near the end. finishes clean and sweet. Nice session beer.
