4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Flipbrewer (33) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 17, 2003
Poured with a beige, rocky head that dissapated into a thin layer after a minute. Deep reddish-amber color. Noticable spicy-citrusy hop bouquet and flavor with a mellow bitterness (Cascade?). Malty-caramelly nose with a hint of toasted grain; subtle alcohol. Medium bodied with a very slight astringency mid-palate to finish. Flavor starts with a malt sweetness that follows all the way to the finish; esters (fruitiness) emerge mid-palate and finishes with toasty notes and a yeasty-bready aftertaste. A nicely balanced brew; flavorful yet easy drinking and refreshing.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2004 So smooth... I wasn't a fan of the style til I tried Alaskan. Nice malty brew. Great mouthfeel. Love the taste although a bit on the sweet side. Sweetness gets to you on your third pint. Nice to drink in a hot tub.

Don’t know how I went so long without trying this, I guess I thought it would be just plain average. Nice sweet/malty flavor, super smooth and silky on the palate, with no bitterness or off flavors. Maybe it was because it was fresh off the tap, but it was too easy to put 3 pints away. I’m going to buy some bottles of this.

Bottle. Stop the presses. I have found the most perfect session beer! Amber body with a one finger off white head. Nice dry spicy nose. Smells like apples and nuts. Notes of spice, banana, bubblegum, malt, and light cherry come through. Great clean finish. This is an excellent beer for any occasion.

Very nice flavor. Not heavy, just the right richness with a nice long aromatic aftertaste. Definitely Alt Style beer. Camping beer for sure. Good stuff.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2006 12 oz bottle via Roth’s. Pours a crystal clear dark reddish amber with a nice average size dense head. Nose is a bit fruity, perhaps some cherries- with some caramel and molasses prevalent. And it is pretty sweet. Sort of a cross between a sweet nutty brown Ale and an amber ale. The hops are very subdued, perhaps they are British hops. Nice easy to drink tastey beer.

Much better from the tap than the bottle. Impressed with the refreshing nature of this beer. Leaves a nice aftertaste along with a satisfying first taste. A beer I would often drink

upped the rating quite a bit; have had this a couple of times and this is about as good a session/summer beer as there is.
Sweet up front - malty/slight caramel? great med. thick palate; ends with slight hops that are crisp/dry and a touch of seasoning (pepper). VERY underated beer!!
Very solid beer;
amber color with tan head that stayed awhile
Flavor was sweet malty with a smooth (non hoppy) finish.
