3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 22, 2000
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2003 Well it’s been 808 days since my last “Alaskan Amber”, and I personally think that is way to long, so here goes my review after some 2 plus years.
As it sets in the glass a pellucid mahogany color, the head modest in size and it erodes quite quickly, leaving a skeletal coating of lace which is light tan color. Sweet malt aromas dominate the nose that is crisp, clean and fresh to the senses; start is also loaded with malt, sweet, the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finnish is prickly in its acidity, the hops delightful in their modest bite, the aftertaste droughty and long lasting. A quite quaffable brew and I’m glad I found a source for this beer at “Liquid Solutions”.

Good smooth beer. Low carbonation, lending itself to great drinkability. Nice red copper appearance and sweet malt taste. Great hops in the finish, but I could have used a little more in the body of the beer. Great texture. Excellent beer overall.

Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition fest 2011 - Pours amber (obviously) with a tannish head. The aroma has sweet malt, brown sugar, toasty malt and an overall richness. It has a medium body that is rich with lots of gentle carbonation. Th taste starts with the aroma traits along with breadiness and more richness and brown sugar. The finish has some spice and more richness. Sad I didn’t get more notes, but the brutal weather made the notes short. This was a really nice alt & hope I get to try more at some point.

Funny story.... I was drinking this beer a couple years back when I was living in Anchorage, and hadn’t heard of it since, until living in Austin and talking to ’aceofhearts’ who reminded me of it. Still haven’t had it since, but remember loving it back then. Would like to get my hands on some again soon (my uncle knows the owner, so that shouldn’t be too hard,:O) ).

The beer I'm always asked about. I finally had a pint out in CA. I have to agree with the majority of the people I've talked to...it is very good. A nice malty sweet nose, good rich mouthfeel. I am very impressed. Reminds me of a Full Sail Amber

Tap@toad in a hole. Reddish orange body, hazy, off-white head; nice lacing. Lightly musky; malt-laden; caramel, honey, brown sugar, molasses; yeasty--baked bread; toasted grains on aroma. Light bodied with lots of foamy carbonation; fairly dry. Flavor is musky; sour fruits and rising dough; caramel malts, toffee, chocolate; finish is grains and lightly toasty. The body is WAY too light to have such foamy carbonation and while well designed, the beer is pretty plain.
