3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jhumphries69 (1035) - Tyrone, Georgia, USA - OCT 13, 2008
Draft at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica, CA. Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights and a light tan head. The aroma is toast, toffee, and fruit. The flavor follows the aroma: sweet, toasty, caramel toffee, subtle chocolate, unexpectedly ester-fruity. The finish is full, and the mouthfeel is medium-full in body with soft carbonation. Overall, a very interesting ale. I’ve never had an authentic altbier, so I can’t speak to the accuracy of this product, but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Tap at the Falling Rock taphouse. Amber orange with a full, creamy beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, cinnamon, toffee, and tea-like fruit sweetness. Flavor is calm nuttiness and fruity bitterness; pear skins, orange rind, and wood. Reserved, quenching, and softly rich. Palate is crisp and medium in body, with some acidic dryness and fruitiness in the finish. Seems to be treated very well fresh on tap; charming, laid back, ultimately refreshing, and pristinely drinkable.

Bomber from Total Beverage in Westminster, CO. Pours a clear dark amber with a nice cap of white head. Aroma is powerful with caramel, green apple, and some peach. Flavor is completely different than what your nose would lead you to believe though, with a hefty amount of malts and just enough hop presence to remind you that you aren’t drinking a loaf of bread. Sessionable at only 5% and with a nice hearty feel without being too filling.

On tap at wolf creek brewery. Pours a copper light red. Denite malty flavors rigt off the stArt. I get a slight bannana clove flaver on the palate. Hardly any lacing on the glass. after taste harsh and bitter with lingering malt. A beer that needs to be enjoyed on a cool day.

Beautiful clear, deep amber color with a tan head and some lacing. Malty aroma with some character. Taste has a lot of balance; malty sweetness offset by the bitterness of the hops. Goes down smooth. Overall I thought this was a really good altbier.

Dark amber pour in glass. Better than average for its beer class. A little malty. Rated 8/13/02

The Alaskan Amber is a fine representation of the Alaskan Brewing Company, and was what started my love of their beers.

Not bad. A little hoppy in the finish, but other than that it’s a solid amber.
