COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer is based on a turn-of-the-century recipe that quenched the thirst of miners during the Klondike Gold Rush. Smooth and richly malty, this altbier goes well with any meal.

Bought this at a hole-in-the-wall beerstore in Vegas, just off the strip. I was expecting a straightforward friendly-but-dull amber-- and I was pretty blown away! Hazy orange-brown amber with a spicy butterscotch-caramel aroma. Lightly fruity with rich buttery malt and spices, this was a very flavourful beer. A little on the sweet side, but very good.

(08.11.06) 12 oz brown bottle from Liquid Solutions. Bottle labeled 8/17/06. Caramel aroma. Poured clear amber with small off-white head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and caramel/toasted malt flavors. Finished dry with light malt fade. No discernable hop presence. Smooth and well-balanced. A very good drinkable ale.

Bottle: Pours amber in color with a nice white head that is mostly lasting. Aroma is nutty with hints of caramel. Flavor is rich and sweet with hints of caramel. Well balanced and easy drinking.

Caramelly malt nose, with a tiny bit of banana esters in the background. Dark amber with a medium yellow head; Flavor is like a caramel banana, with some light chocolate in the background.

Heavy and light at the same time, yet this doesn’t negate either of these characteristics. Its full of flavour yet light enough to enjoy one bottle after the other. I’d say color is what you’d expect from a nicely flavored beer. Smells like candy for a drunk. Try one and think of Alaska when you drink it! Something pure, and relatively untouched.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2007 Poured to a dark copper color, with thin off-white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was a very pleasant blend of malty dark fruit, peat and a hint of smokey wood. Flavor was not quite as pronounced, although more of the same. Mouthfeel was slightly sweet and rich, and finish long with a slightly sweet aftertaste. I could not drink many of these at once, but a good tasting sipping beer.

This is one of my favoite ambers. Rich and malty on the palate and lingers for quite some time. Awsome amber color, nice white head, great nutty and caramel flavor.

Alaskan Amber is exactly what an altbier is supposed to be. it is smooth, medium bitterness, with a hint of spice or nuts and caramel, it seemed more robust in flavor when I first discovered this gem doing TDY at Ft. Wainwright eleven years ago. However, it is a great beer for converting my spudweiser piss beer drinking friends to real beer.
