Small amount of quick to disappear head. Beautiful amber coloring. You can taste the caramel. The malts are almost too much. Easy drinking, yet couldn’t have too many and certainly couldn’t drink quickly.

Draft - big caramel nose. A beautiful beer - deep amber with an off-white head. Big malty flavor with enough hops to balance. Very well done!

UPDATED: APR 22, 2003 Fairly sweet malt flavor with a fitting medium body. Very smooth. Copper color is pleasant.

Rich teak wood or overripe tangerine rind in color. Medium head when beer is not too cold (in which case hardly any head is present). Rich, sweet and cake dough malts on nose with flirtation of apple and orange blossom, Outstanding. First taste is caramel, malt, cooked apple, and a surprise of allaspice that makes a brief appearance on each sip. Body is quite sweet and somewhat syrupy, but balanced by the spice and a mild hop finish. A well balanced and pleasing beer for such a ubiquitous brand. Consistently high quality from bottle to bottle.

Pour is a dark brown with a big tan head that stays around for a while. Aroma is all things caramel malts. Not much else comes through. Flavor is again nice deep caramel malts and some light flowery hops follow up after the swallow. A good example of the style.

orange brown. slight tan head, a bit frothy. smells so fresh, baked bread. immediate sweetness hits my tongue. excellent. sweet/(slight fruit/apple) - moderated flavor leaves me for more. pleasant aftertaste. a bit thick to my stomach - buttery (& a bit syrupy/cloying), smooth, could be the buttery end that's too thick for me. pleasant beer though. thanks tannertavernboy!

Nice beer. My first alt, actually. I like the body, medium maltiness. Before Belgians a Barleywines, I would have thought this was quite thick. No head, but I'm not certain if that's the style. Just OK, but I would buy it again.
