Bottle at Johnny Mac’s Good Times Tavern, Rock Springs, WY. Nice concentrated (not overwhelming) nose: cherry skin, sweet malt, mild wheat. Flavors of the same, with a rather thick texture. Quite clean for a ’common’ beer.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2008 Pours clear & copper, with very uneven and bubbling head, foaming away in the glass, slowly disappearing as I drink. Aroma of fruit compote, & toffee, not unlike many good English ales. First flavor notes are malts & caramel, leading to a moderate, slightly roasts (yum!) Some sips include a slightly papery flavor. Bitterness of medium length. Hops are on the subdued side. Very similar in flavor to Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Good drinking, but no epiphanies.

Nice fluffy cotton head sits atop a moderately carbonated burnt orange body. The aroma is all malt with caramel & toffee dominant. Flavor is sweeter than most. A good drinkable session beer. Solid.

22oz bottle. Pours clearish amber with a very thin, fizzy white head. Smells crisp malty, caramelly sweet. Tastes crisp, sweet malty with some caramel and slight earth notes. Medium body, crisp carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2008 Selected this on tap at a theater pub. Not a lot of choices and I’ve seen this rated well by others. Nice full taste for an amber. Well balanced, nice 3/4 inch head, good lacings. Enjoyed the beer and the movie. Recommended.
Update: Have had a few bottles since and must up-rate this some. Nice amber.

On draft. One of my favorite alt beers. Amberish color. Very smooth and well balanced. Yes I’ll have another.

Good beer. I had this while I was out west(Oregon or Wash) and liked it. Well balanced and tasty.

22 oz bottle. This was one of my stepping-stone/gateway beers five years ago. My wife showed up with a sixer of this and it was good. Today’s rating is a 22. Copper pour with latte colored foam and lace. Nose is clear from three feet away. Super sweet malt, like a soda. Dried apricots and raisins. Tiniest hop bump to give the nose a bit of a bite. Only a tiny bit though. Taste is sweet malt, like medium brown sugar, and light fruit. Finish is more like lager.
