3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
From bottle, purchased at Molly Stone’s on California Av, Palo Alto (Mayfield) CA. This may have been mishandled on its way to me; it seemed to be oxidized.
Malty, bready aroma, with a hint of oxidation and faint hops. Amber in color, as advertised, with light head.
Flavor was a bit disappointing; a bit of oxidation was distracting. Some maltiness, bitterness primarily front-of-mouth but subdued for an Altbier at an estimated 20 BU. Medium-full mouthfeel.
I hope this was atypical of this beer, as I have heard great things of it!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz pour from refrigerated bottled into a handled mug. Leans on dry. White and a hint of sweet orange in the nose. Light citrus and pleasant malts in the taste. Medium body. Smooth. A drinkable go-to beer. I didn’t have this under idea circumstances, however, so I’d love to come back and try it again sometime.

pours a clear copper with a medium beige head. Aroma is malty, biscuity. Tastes very nice. Caramel, sweet breads, malt. Mildly sweet finish. I’ve never been a big amber fan until now. This is now my personal benchmark for the style. Good beer!
