Mild malt aroma. Well balanced taste with hop flavor in the middle and more malt in the finish. Mildly bitter. Easy drinking. Nice.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Though the visual appearance and aroma were average (subtle malty aroma with hints of citrus), the beer was very flat and watery on the palate and the taste was much more of the same.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very nice look. Good head and great color. Smell doesn't live up to appearance. Not a bad smell, but way too light for an amber. Beer goes down smooth and has a great taste. Not overpowering, but a good mixture making a very nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not bad... reminds me of total cereal. Itís got that sort of brand mineral taste. The aroma is way off. Other than that itís pretty non offensive and drinkable.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at happy hour. Looks like a standard amber ale; meager head retention.
Mild aroma leads to a malt-forward, boring, bland experience on the palate. How is this different from any other mass-produced disappointment?

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark copper, brief lacy white head. Mostly a good thirst quencher, with just enough malt to make it interesting. A creamy palate, slightly sweet. A good alternative session beer for those who avoid hops.

August 12th, 2012 - Apparently all my introductory Alaskan Brewery beers are the plain and boring brews that earn the company its money, and consequently, itís experimentation budget. I canít unfairly begrudge a brewery for balancing the books and making sure thereís enough discretionary funding left over to power the laboratories and pay the wages of the mad scientists and brewers who work there, but oftentimes the moneymaker beers are pretty insipid. Alaskanís Amber is less exciting than some of the beers with flair coming out of their brewery, but itís a bit better than your average core amber brew. I didnít have much of an opportunity to take in the nose, but the flavor is rich with apple, cotton candy, and a touch and delicately added bit of clove. The malt character is darker, and slightly richer, than what I was expecting, lending this brew a luxurious flavor layer without being over cloying or oversweetened. This could be a decent opening to a brewery centered tasting - sweet, mild, and whets the appetite for more Alaskan born beers.
