sliffy (1930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 17, 2008 Shared at Cleveland tasting 3/15 Bottle: Pours a deep copper color with a light tan head. Aroma, caramel and citrus notes, earthy. Flavor, caramel and brown sugar up front, some earthy citrus notes towards the end. A nice sweetness to it, balancing hops. Good stuff.
Funknmilla (471), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bomber...2007 Bottle...Ruddy brown-tan head...nice drippy lacing...when the light shines through it, it looks like dark ripe cherries....sweet malt aromas-and alcohol soaked cherries....creamy body...flavors of alcohol initially, its bitter-sweet in the mouth...has cherry and prune essences, but soaked in booze...its a good barley, the style I enjoy--very balanced fishingnet (694), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 2007 Bottle courtesy Ibrew2or3. Pours a clear deep amber with a one finger off-white head that fades leaving good lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, dark fruit, light alcohol, and light floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good. Crosling (1583), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2008 2007 bomber. This mahogany colored beauty provides amble aromas of toffee and dark fruits. Flavor is malt accented, with notes of raisins, caramel and honey covered dark fruits. Really well balanced. It’s easy to tell why it has so many accolades. WeeHeavySD (1492), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 17, 2008 2007 Bottle that I’ve had for a while, decided it would be a good beer to drink tonight with my girlfriend. Pours a big big dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and big with some dark fruit feeling. Taste is sweet and robust with dark fruit and some raisins. This is a great BW, looking forward to it warming up some. sneagrams3 (1314), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 6, 2008 #1300. Perfect gift from Keir. Relatively clear with a deep dark ruby highlight surrounding a dense dark brown core. Spiraling off-white head. Sweet molassis nose. Touch grapey berry note. Mild cooca. Full bodied with a rather substantial burn. Raisins and other assorted dried fruits. Bitter acidity with a mix of coffee and tingling ,yet muted effervescence. Estery and a vivid cherry note. Big and bad, and might need a little age. But this is a rock ready to go. Sticky alcohol malts, fruity yeasty middle and a spicy hoppy finish. This is delicious, and will only get better.
