Ty5592 (1002), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2008 Bottle from 5000. Pours a dark ruby color with no head. Aroma of cherries, light caramel, and earth. The flavor was the same with a nice hop presence. Thick, rich, and chewy. This is some good stuff here.
masonjer (394), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jul 13, 2008 Thanks to Pantanap for giving me the chance to try this. Poured reddish brown. Aroma is caramel, and pine hops. Taste is nice and rounded, dark fruit, raisins, caramel, malt sweetness with a great piney balancing bitterness. Big thick mouthfeel, sticky with a lasting finish. Ibrew2or3 (1596), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 9, 2008 2007 vintage captured in a sweet trade with ratebeer superstar after4ever. Thanks buddy.
Pours deep clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma is semi rich, but not as rich as the Arctic Devil just was for the last beer, with fruity esters and some pine hops. The taste is rich and sweet with malty roasty yet sugar sweet maltiness moving into dark fruity esters of sweet Concord grape jam, ripe cherries, plums, dates and figs. It has a sizable amount of pine hop bitterness. Terrific American Barleywine.
Ughsmash (2814), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 7, 2008 2007 bomber. Poured deep reddish-brown with a shorter-lived, but easily-resuscitated tan head. The aroma was deep and fruity with solid doses of toasted caramel, brittle toffee, and rum.. accented by floral and dry herbal hoppage.. at room temp the warmth eminating from the elixir made my eyes burn a little. The flavor had a deep, syrupy, rum-infused caramel and dark pitted fruit core with grapefruit, herbal, and grainy dark fruit bitterness surrounding.. alcohol was warming and made the mouth tingle (never harsh).. picked up raisins on the memorable finish. Heavier-bodied with lower carbonation and a syrupy disposition.. peppery alcohol laced the edges and the finish stuck with me.. this came together very well. Funknmilla (489), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bomber...2007 Bottle...Ruddy brown-tan head...nice drippy lacing...when the light shines through it, it looks like dark ripe cherries....sweet malt aromas-and alcohol soaked cherries....creamy body...flavors of alcohol initially, its bitter-sweet in the mouth...has cherry and prune essences, but soaked in booze...its a good barley, the style I enjoy--very balanced fishingnet (711), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 2007 Bottle courtesy Ibrew2or3. Pours a clear deep amber with a one finger off-white head that fades leaving good lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, dark fruit, light alcohol, and light floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.
