Can you say Cascade? Not very malty, as advertised. Very Cascadian aroma and flavor, a nice example of how to display American hops. Too bad I’m tired of Cascade right now. Quality beer nonetheless.

12-oz. Pours a darkish amber with a little tan head. Sweet malt, caramel, and some fresh mown grass in the nose--Alaskan can be stingy with the aromas, so this is nice. Fizzy body; the bubbles really step through on the attack, all the way to the finish. Caramel/nougaty palate. The hops hold up from the beginning to the end--nice. Those sweet malts clamber over at the finish, though, leaving an oddly sour linger. The hops should probably have been left alone to do their thing for the finish with this one.

12oz Bottle
A good golden color with a nice head, A decent hoppy aroma with a slight bready maly nose. Misses the ESB style but the beer was good to drink, For a bitter it was too light int he bitter flavor. Needs work on the bitter end. Ouch did I say that.

After being pleasantly surprised by other Alaskan offerings, I was let down by this rather bland bitter.
