Well now, I was originally rating this beer as an IPA. Hops are of the battering variety mostly but it’s pretty tasty.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 SHIG (3061) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - APR 29, 2012
Draft at Tap Root Beer and Mead Social: Poured a coppery orange color with off white head. Aroma is strong citrus fruit, piney hops, and light malt. Taste was very lively hops with citrus, piney, strong bold flavor, simple malts allowed for the beer to be balanced. I really enjoyed how this left my mouth eager for another sip.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (757) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - MAY 12, 2013
Poured a finger of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body.
Great aroma. Bright grapefruit with a touch of pine.
The taste is wonderful. Moderate grapefruit bitterness with a bit of honey sweetness in the middle, finishes with moderate pine bitterness.
The texture is soft with just the right amount of fizz.
Superb.

Bottle. Copper pour with white head. A great smell of citrus and floral hops with a touch of mango(?). The taste is not nearly as bitter as I thought it would be. Good balance of malts and hops. Very good beer.

A very tasty and appealing American Pale Ale from Alaskan Brewing Company. I would happily have another.

Hazy copper with a self-regenerating very foamy head. That lasts the.whole drink. Well balanced floral amd bitter citrusy aroma that’s just medium strength all around. The peak strength of a pale ale. Medium body. Good malt and hop balance. Good bite. A perfect pale.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 savnac (2064) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - SEP 22, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2012 On tap in Anchorage. Clear deep orange with a small, dense white head. Aroma of Pac NW hops, citrus, pine and flowers with a faint malt presence. Flavor is full of hops but with a medium bitterness, malt is there for balance and leaves a nice lightly toasty finish. Medium to light in body with average carbonation and a clean, refreshing mouth feel. Great Pale, lots of hop flavor with a clean bitterness.

12oz bottle. Slightly hazy orange-tan. Pronounced Citra hop flavor, quite fresh and bold. Tropical citrus in the aroma. A really good APA, very new-school, lots of bright hop tones. A touch earthy and biscuity, just enough to give it some depth..mostly all about the hops as far as I’m concerned. Well done.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bill Becker (62) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - JUL 21, 2012
I had this today at the Wonder Bar in Casper.
It poured a bright and clear gold with an inch of billowy foam that left a lot of lacing behind after every sip.
The smell is hoppy...biggest notes came from the citra hops; citrus and light hints of tropical fruit. There’s some earthy malt in there as well.
The taste brought the citrus to the forefront, lemon-tropical fruit-grapefruit, followed by some earthy/grainy notes from the malt. The finish is decidedly bitter and quite dry.
Good mouthfeel overall.
It’s a very nice, hop forward APA that I found very damn drinkable and refreshing. Who’d have thunk that I’d get to drink it in Casper Wyoming? Very nice indeed, Alaskan Brewing!
